Hi evryone,
I am a BBC Runner as already pointed out. I work for the Shows Top of the pops Plus+ (BBC Midday, Sundays)and Top of the pops@Play (4-7pm Weekdays On Play UK.......or UK play as it used to be known.)
And Chris, I wasn't trying to be rude as you run an excellent website but my point was that as Emma B (Who presents Top of the pops@play occassionaly along with James king, Joe Mace, Lisa Rogers, Vernon Kay and Josie D'arby) only uses "B" as her surname as does Sarah HB, that's why their email addresses are as they are. I think it's a valid point and as I said, I don't know everything about BBC email addresses, just more than most people on this board (I'm not showing off!) There are always exceptions to the rule though as people seem to have pointed out. Keep up the excellent work Chris!
Eddie

So you want to know what a runner does?!?!
Well you metioned running the BBC....well it's at the opposite end of the scale. A runner Runs errands, hence the name. Errands include the obvious....making tea and other more interesting jobs such as dealing with record companies, getting things like video tapes from around the building and other buildings, answering telephones and looking after guests and presenters. It's one of the lowest jobs in a TV or film company, you start at the bottom and then you'll move up in your chosen direction (Assuming you're good at your job) maybe to be a floor manager, or a camera assistant or if you want to work in an office rather than a studio you'd probably become a Researcher then assistant producer or director and then director or producer.(Which are obviously office and studio jobs!)
I'm not exactly sure what a Grip boy is as we don't have one on our show, I think it has something to do with electronics or lighting though!
Hope I was of some help! :)
Eddie
[This message has been edited by Eddie (edited 15 January 2001).]
[This message has been edited by Eddie (edited 15 January 2001).]

My world is now complete.
I will sleep well tonight :)
Thank you for enlightening us into the daily runnings of your live.
Maybe this would be a good time to ask what the rich and famous take in their teas and coffess, or ask for secrets like "have u ever hidden Terry Wogans wig?" or "how big is the chair that Ronnie Corbett sits on?", or "what truly annoying habits does Jamie Theakston have?".
I am sure we will be able to make u a star Eddie - even if the BBC wont :)

Can't really give you any answers to your specific questions (However retorical they were supposed to be!) as I've only been a regular at television Centre since July Last year. All I can say though is that I often see people like Theakston and Wogan around the building, maybe I'll ask them next time!!!!
By the way,I found out the other day that some of the team that make our show used to also work on The Chris Moyles Show on UK play, In fact, back when our show was called the Phonezone both shows used to share the same studio. The Moyles set was on one side of the studio and all you had to do to film our show was to swing the cameras around. I'm gutted I satrted working for the Beeb when I did as I would have probably done some work with Chris if I had started a couple of months earlier but as it stands I've never even met the bloke. I'll have to start using my contacts (See earlier message i.e Emma B and James King) to get down to Radio 1 and maybe even see a show go out!!!!! I wish!!!!!
Eddie

I Was not trying to show off by saying "I work in telly, aren't I great?!?!?!', if you look back you'll notice that I was just answering the question of what Dave's email address is and I simply explained how I knew.
You are right in saying that I was just answering other people's questions, that doesn't make me a bad person. If the questions weren't asked that would have been the end of it!
Sorry if it seemed I was showing off, it wasn't intended in that way, I promise!!!!!
Eddie

Thankyou! I don't see the point in starting argumnets, unless it's with anyone who doesn't think that Chris Moyles is excellent!
:) :)

Hi again,
Stickyspanner, yes that's a good idea, lets see how long we can make this thread (Even though it now has absolutely nothing to do with the original message!!!). Why should Chris shut it down, we've done or said nothing offensive. It's unbelievable that there's now nearly been the same amount of postings on this thread as on the story!!! Well done for your first posting!
Kate, Yes I am the guy who signed Jak and Lou's Vernon Web site guest book, I also signed little Lisa's Joe Mace guest book. It's really wierd how I've bumped into someone else from another message board on this one(Play UK message board). You've got good taste. Top of the pops@Play and Chris Moyles...... Shame both shows are on at the same time!!!!
Anway gotta go, I'm spending far too much time at my computer
Eddie

Ok I'm also in for just making this thread last for as long as possible. I could never be bothered to read that story before anyway.
I also must now go as I am using this message board far too much (almost as bad as Kate!-No offence)I bet I'll be registering soon. I'll have to change my Username to something good though, instead of this rubbish reference to the No Sweat debate started on a previous thread.
Later

Yep Eddie, this is really weird!!!! We both obv. have good taste!
Jak, Lou and Lisa were pleased you signed their book - nice of you to do that!!
Play UK - why the name change, and totp spin offs are surprisingly decent (thought it would be vapid Westlife salivating), if only cos the presenters are actually good at their jobs!!!
Didn't you also get your face shown on the tv the other day??? Was that you...??
Yeah I was thinking about them being on at the same time - so I guess you only get to hear the Saturday show then - or do you stay in the Green Room with your radio on??! :)
No Sweat - lol, lucky I have a sense of humour!! :) I think I should get off this too - I am only here so much lately as I have no work till March which means that's when I'll start it!
ok bye!!!
(saddo Kate)
xx
