Post a message on the Play UK board or email me if you want to know more.<P>I'll try and answer all your questions..... It's going to be a very very long post (Sorry anyone else!!!)Firstly I got into the beeb by applying for work experience two years ago and 6 months ago I got a place as an assistant runner (See how long it can take, thousands of people apply for W.E so you can see why) for a month on the 'phonezone' as TOTP@play used to be known. Now I have been given the privellege of working (Unpaid at the moment although my freelance contract is being prosessed at this moment) on my free days away from University, basically when my contract is done and dusted I get paid for the days I work and not for the days I dont (Makes sense)and I basically work when I can or when I'm needed. Secondly, yes that was me on the show the other day, if you watch regularly you'll have notice I've popped up a few times, the relaxed atmosphere of the show allows crew members to be a feature. Thirdly I do get to listen to Moyles in the week due to the nature of my work pattern (Which I've explained) and TOTP@Play having a green room, you've got to be kidding. We're in a small studio on the 6th Floor of Television Centre, only the big studios on the ground floor get a green room (The Radio is quite often on in the offic though). The name Change.....well the reason I was told is simply this: UKTV make UK Gold, UK Horizons etc and Play UK, the Channel thought that the other channels which they make under the 'UK' branding were a bit fuddy duddy and so when UK Play was revamped the name was changed so that it could still be associated with the other channels but not directly!<br>Joe's Baby? You can't just let the biggest thread run without adding a little something!  :)<P>To the internet DJ or any budding DJ's who dont mind waiting for their time <G>...<P>I use to do internet radio shows on live365 and mycaster, (pretty dump quality when your boradcasting on a 56K connection <G>.) They were fun though but I found it hard crossing over two things.. ie. a jingle and song! So - lets go into the studios and potch with their equiptment! <P>OK so by now your thinking where... Well try your hospital radio station (they all have them!) and the tend to have great studios! so try and get in there - GREAT fun, although the music you may not find the same as Radio 1  :)<P>From there you have something on your record. What-a pun. If your still at school, for work experience, go to your local radio station - you have tooones! Even if your just making tea you may be lucky enough to work within the studio! Now is the big jump <VBG> when at your local radio station show them your demop tape you mdae when at the hospital radio station  :)! - A good one though, or use their equiptment to make a radio 1 style one! <BG><P>Anyways from there if your good, which I am sure you will be, you may get on the airwaves, (when a presenter is ill - Ohh like Chris Moyles <BG> ) and someone will pick you up!<P>Laters!<P>Mikey<br>

i`m 25 - so not at school anymore.<P>I only DJ part time - I fix cars during the day, hence the name, so if you have any problems with yer cars, get em on here and i`ll fix em  :) - any  excuse to keep this thread going  :)<P>I am still the "pubs and weddings and birthday party" kinda DJ, but i have a friend in my local radio station, so i`ll need to burn a demo cd.  The local hospitals also have radio and I actually was involved in a festival where they made an appearance and got chatting to the guy a bit.<P>Hope ya all enjoy my site - there is over 200Mb of stuff to download and play with  :)<P>Byeeee<P>

I Don't care, as you can see we all have a laugh. <P>Anyone trying to get into TV or radio my advice is try really hard to get work experience, Basically the BBC don't really employ many people unless they have first done work ex. They treat it like a long interview to see if you can do the job. It's exactly what they say........It's not what you know, it's who you know. A cliche I know but never has a truer word been spoken!!!! You're right Kate the PLAY UK board is crappy, you can never find the messages. This board is the best message board I've ever been on....everything has been thought of. I am on the Play UK board sometimes but I've never posted I did show Vernon the board at work today though and he read alot of the threads and posted under the subject 'Can we see Vernon in shorts' I think it was the first time he'd used a message board, I had to show him how to do it!<P>Eddie

stickyspanner problems with my car huh!! My problem IS my car. The main one at the moment is the drivers door wont unlock so i have to open the passenger side an then unlock it from inside.<P>I know you cant do anything but its bloody annoying an i was in a mood best described as the opposite to what kate is always in.

I think I want to be a floor manager beacause It's really interesting and as I'd probably be freelance like most FM's are I'd get to work on loads of different shows! I also wouldn't mind a research job as they can lead to producer/exec.producer jobs also I sometimes write the questions for our competition 'Pops the question' and help with 'chat attacks' sometimes and it's great to hear your work on th TV!<P>I don't think Vernon will make regular posts on The Play UK web site bexause he's not a big computer user...... Good idea telling Play UK about the state of their board and pointing out this one. I don't actually know one at Play UK, I work for the Beeb and we just produce a show for Play UK they are in a seperate office in a completely seperate building so I can't really let them know!<P>Eddie
