I don't care, it's about 5 times the speed of my previous PC and I'm never going to fill an 80GB hard drive.

hope that helps

How much does your average comuter go for these days and is the briefcase extra?

Sidla's PC sounds the type I'd like, but i'm not sure If I'm going to be able to get one now. Do you know of any of the high street places that offer credit facilities for full-time students? I've emailed the main ones but none of them replied. I don't really want to rely on credit but I really need a new pc. :(

I'm almost certain that high street stores such as Dixons, PC World, Argos etc would jump at the chance to do deals with students. If you shop around then you should be able to get a reasonable deal with someone. It's unlikely you'll get a bargain because smaller companies usually have the best deals, but it's not very likely that they'll offer you credit.

Of course, if you've got a birthday coming up...

They're not that bad, I just wouldn't expect them to buy me a computer or anything.

I'd be grateful if I could afford anything, but I'd prefer a pc to an iMac, they just seem to do more. I don't really know a lot about them though.

For general use go with a PC but if you wanted a top machine for video editing and such like iMac is the way to go.

I found out I can't get credit I'm back at the start again. Does any one know if the refurbished/reconditioned computers are as good as new ones? They're cheaper and I might just be able to afford one. I just don't want to spend money if its going to crash and freeze up like this one does.

crashing and freezing up can usually be fixed by reinstalling windows. where are you talking about getting a refurbished one from? they should be sold in good working order and if they have a hardware fault i shouldn't think they'd be sold. if they have a reasonable specification there shouldnt' be anything wrong with a refurbished one.
