Disclaimer - This was not written by me but merely pasted from another site I happened to visit.

This was forwarded by my mate who works part time for the Sports desk at The Independent.

Just called a mate of mine that's a reporter at the Daily Star.

The rape case in a London hotel - if true: I hate to say it but I have a feeling it will involve Newcastle. We know it happened at a hotel in London (if at all). The only games in London around that date were Arsenal v Newcastle and Chelsea v Villa. Chelsea would not have stayed in a hotel, neither would Arsenal and Villa would probably have travelled down the same day, Newcastle may well have stayed in a hotel overnight. Also, the current rumours regarding Bobby Robson's resignation, only puts more argument behind the theory. Bollocks.

Edit: Just read Sidla's post. I agree unfortunately.

I am always drunk, you should know that... No, I couldn't be arsed to read all of that earlier, I had a reasonable idea it was about the football rape case, but didn't know it would say exactly the same as what I did. Oh well.

Ha, you muppet!

Once more I stress, I have absolutely no idea wether or not that story is true or false. Don't let it sway your judgement in any way.

Oh dear - after actually reading this Im starting to wonder..

I now believe it could Aston Villa related. Considering they played in London against Chelsea previously.

Talking of Chelsea, why would Charlton Cole who is on loan to Charlton, want to rent a hotel room when he has a perfectly good house in London to live in??

Even if the papers and SkySports did know their not allowed to publish the names. I've a feeling a lot of people know but their simply banned from publishing names. We won't find the names of the players unless their found guilty - and such a complex case usually takes 14months to be concluded.

Is it illegal though, Matthew Wright got off.

Matthew Wright made a slanderous comment which is illegal. However, if John Leslie had decided to press charges it is unlikely that he would have won because he would have had to prove that Ulrika wasn't refering to him in the first place.

Newcastle United manager Bobby Robson has come out and addressed the
press in an attempt to put a stop to the rumours that members of his team
were involved in an incident at a London hotel over the weekend.
Robson, speaking at St James' Park said "I hope the critics will stop
saying
that my
team has no penetration. The players have shown that they can come from
behind".
He also added, "My players are getting stuck in as a group and are pulling
together.
I must complement them on their positioning and in probing to find holes to
score.
All in all they displayed fantastic energy and showed no mercy.
I just hope that next time, they can keep a clean sheet."

There are fears that chants identifying the players could be used on the terraces at games this weekend.

Television and radio broadcasters could inadvertently open themselves up to legal problems if the words are picked up on their microphones.

Will that matter though, I mean another example (of slightly less importance and meaning, granted) would be when they have live matches on in the day and the crowd use language that normally would be bleeped before the watershed. They seem to get off scotfree with that.

its a weird legal senario though... the premiership putting on big brother style chicken noises to hide the chants. i would imagine it will only be at the barcodes match most other places will be too concerned with their own teams.

I remember watching England's away match in Liechtenstein live on BBC 1 about 6pm on a Saturday and because there wasn't many fans there any seemingly loud shout from an england fan was caught on by a microphone by the side of the pitch. some bloke shouted out 'come on lads, these are sh*te, theyre all c*nts' and Barry Davies/Motty (can't remember who was commentating) never apologised for it...

the other week with the birmingham fulham match where the referee was a fool in quick succession was a loud chant from both sets of supporters starting with "the referees a wanker" and then "whos the bastard in the black"
