Yeah, they went through dubbing over the word ninja in all the episodes. I never did understand what was so bad about the word.

I thought it was cos they thought ninja was 2 violent for the UK thing. i remember seeing it on the news when it was on, cos didnt it start as ninja turtles in britain and then they changed it?

Well, they were kicking the cr@p out of Shredder every week, I don't see what difference a word would make.

I think they were affraid when kids in America started acting like the Ninja turtles, going in sewers and makinjg their own swords, sai and nija stars. Changing it to Hero was meant to make kids either a. Want to be heros or more likely b. saying "I'm a hero" didn't sound as cool as "I'm a ninja" so they hoped fewer kids would pretend to be nijas.
Stupid but there you go.

Yeah, but the film was called Ninja.

And why would calling them heroes make kids want to go down into sewers and make weapons any less?

It probably wouldn't but at the end of the day people in power are perceived to be doing something at least.

"Heroes in a half shell, TURTLE POWER!!!!!!!" Gotta love that theme tune. I watched one of my old Turtles the other day, absolutely classic but the animation is a bit shoddy compared to today's standards, but that makes it even better, I've still got all my figures too. Oh, one other thing, KRANG RULED!!!!! *ahem* Got a bit carried away there.

Sidla wrote:Yeah, but the film was called Ninja.

US film, therrefore kept it the same as the US version of the cartoon.
I know the reason but that doesn't mean I agreed with it or anything. Though it was stupid.
Actually the makers of the show probably decided it was getting too violent as they took Michaelangelo's nun-chuks away in the cartoon and he just used a rope and turtle shaped (???) grappling hook.

It was leonardo i forgot this time, i knew it had something to do with Da Vinci, but i cudn't think what!
