Cool Edit Pro is now Adobe Audition
Syntrillium
Adobe Systems Incorporated acquired the technology assets of Syntrillium Software in May 2003. On August 18th, 2003 Adobe released a rebranded version of Cool Edit Pro 2.1 as Adobe Audition™ software.

Adobe Audition is the same great Cool Edit Pro that you know and love along with the addition of enhanced integration with Adobe Premiere® Pro® and Adobe After Effects® 6.0 software. Adobe Audition also includes 4,500 high-quality royalty-free loops so you can make your own music quickly and easily.

Syntrillium’s other products — Cool Edit 2000, Red Rover, Snoqualmie, Wind Chimes, Kaleidoscope, and the content available on the Loopology.com site — have been discontinued.
bullet If you own Cool Edit Pro 2.x, you can download a complimentary upgrade to Adobe Audition. To download and install Adobe Audition, you will need to provide your Cool Edit Pro 2.x serial number and have Cool Edit Pro 2.x installed on your computer.
bullet If you own Cool Edit 2000 or Cool Edit Pro 1.x, you can purchase an upgrade to Adobe Audition for just $99.

Adobe provides full support for Adobe Audition. Support for Syntrillium products is provided through the Adobe knowledgebase and user-to-user forums.

We send our heartfelt thanks to all of you who supported Syntrillium and Cool Edit. We look forward to your continued support for Adobe Audition.

And in your quote, "You can purchase Adobe Audition for just $299".

Hi Fudgey,

Go to http://www.download.com and try searching there. There are plenty of other applications you can use to record and edit The Chris Moyles Show.

Obviously your going to have to rethink. If you real want to Cool Edit v.x then I suggest you go and look in your local Computer Shop. PC World currently have a sale.

Or Computer fairs can sometimes be useful, they usually sell a load of old stuff for cheap.
You wouldn't get much off the price Because the versions are all similar (This is just a guess so correct me if I'm Wrong)

You are very unlikely to find cool edit pro in somewhere like PC World. When we had it for work, all upgrades, etc came from specialists in the UK or directly through Syntrillium (now Adobe of course)

Cool Edit Pro is too sophsticted and pricey if all you want to do is record Moyles. There are a lot cheaper programs on the market that does the job just as well (for recording Moyles).

lol im no milkman thanks ive not been away from the UK that long to know that you were not taking the "chris" :o)

I got my copy of the software free from winmx.com i hate kazaa too many popups - you dowload the zip file - install the demo and you will find that another file that you unzip contains registration details for someone called Peter Quistgard so thanks Pete wherever you may reside :o) lol

COUGH illegal illegal illegal COUGH

sorry...just annoys me that we pay hundres of pounds for it and then people nab it fro free when, to be perfectly honest, the small-time stuff you're gonna be doing on it at home can be done by so many other software programmes out there. we're at least using the programme for what it was designed for as well as using the majority of the specialist (and therefore expensive) feautres on it.

rant over, please dont ahve a go at me for this, its only my view

Yes, you hardly need cool edit to record the show. EG if you buy Musicmatch Jukebox (£12) you can set a timer to record line in to an MP3.
