TJ - I noticed that your avatar is, to say the least, beautifully produced. If you used "Animation Shop", I would like you to help me out if it's not too much trouble.
Now I know whenever you see the name "Weeman" as the author of the thread or whatever it is, the topic title usually reads "Help..." or "...help" but, well I'm an amateur when it comes to this sort of thing.

Basically I'm looking for some help in creating an equally spectacular avatar/banner for my site.
Now, I can only use the "Banner Wizard" at the moment so obviously the banner that I have created is pretty simple. I would like to know how to use the program properly now to create more interesting banners.
So how did you do your avatar I.E. To have the background kind of crackling and the text going along the bottom.

Sorry this has been a bit long winded but this is where I thought I might be able to get some help!

right click the first frame of your gif and go to insert text effect its easy from there.
then to get the scratches, go to the frame you want them to start at and right click, select APPLY image effect and select scratches.
If you want the scratches to appear as an intro before the text comes then select insert image effect.
using apply means you can have scratches appearing over the top of the text.

That's great thanks but the only thing I don't really get about it now is the frames bit.
What I mean by that is how many do I need to put in (how many have you got?) and then how do I know how to set them up so that the animation will work properely.

just make the first frame in paint or something, tyhen paste it in.
When you add an effect the frames make themselves. so you only need 1

Me thinks the mWo have over-used the film grain effect...since it's been on every chuffun' over-sized avatar they've made so far.

Sorry, I'm back again. I havn't been able to get started on my new animation so (hopefully) the last question is:
If I want the scrolling text, do I just enter it all in on the first frame in paint, but go over the edge of the border, will this then be alright when I animate it?

all you need to do in paint is make the background picture. if you don't want a background picture use a solid coulour in AniShop.

once in AniShop you can add the text effect over the top of the bg/colour. it'll make more sense when you open AnShop.

When you have your first frame inserted in Animation shop click Effects>insert text effect. Then a window will open where you write your text you want to scroll and you choose your effect (marquee if you want it to scroll)

Don't think i'm using a different Animation shop, i use the one that comes with PSP7. The Page fold effect is in the image transition in the effects.
