The radio 1 breakfast show has hardly set the world alight for years now so how many of us really believe moyles can make a go of it?

Personally I think he has a difficult job on his hands and although I will listen im not sure whether many will convert....

As I've said many times some of the best Moyles shows I've ever heard have been Breakfast shows, so I don't see why it should be any different now.

It might be more popular if they changed the playlist.

yeah but we all know that's not going to happen.

I personally think he will turn it round. After all, he'd look a bit foolish if he lost even more listeners after all the 'I'm the saviour of radio 1' bravado. Parfitt just has to stick with him and I'm sure the figures will rise slowly but surely.

He says it's been his dream to present the radio 1 breakfast show and by the sounds of it he's pretty committed to making the show work. He just needs a bit of publicity (which the TV ads will give him), some decent features, licence to do his own thing (i.e long links) and a bit of time.

I'm looking forward to listening to him at breakfast anyway. Not least because I can have my life (or what little I have of one..) back in the afternoons...

MC is spot on, as we know through Aled Moyles and the team, and others involved at Radio 1 are very intent on having Moyles pioneer the radio station. If we look at it all the DJ's R1 have been employing recently have been celebs pretty much, Vernon Kaye, Edith Bowman, Sara Cox.

It's nice that the DJ on the leading show on R1 that they're going with someone for their talent as a DJ and not just the fact that they're going to get inches in the papers.

And amen to getting my life back in the afternoon, once 10am's gone i can press stop on the recording button and carry on with my day after being woken up by Chris.

It could, it went downhill suddenly when they changed the music policy a few years back, but it's unlikely I admit.

It's good R1 are taking it seriously, piloting it and all. This is the first Breakfast show host for ages who is actually a radio presenter, which is a good thing. However, it does seem a little similar to Steve Wright, and you know how that ended up...

What worries me that if Chris isn't a success on breakfast they'll sack him as appose to demote (sp?) him, because lets face it, with Sarah on afternoons where would they put him? He wouldn't work during the day because his listeners are mainly students.

Ha ha, your sig is now out of date Sam... Nice to see you back.

Hmm, it's a good point though, I can't see him on any other radio station, certainly not Radio 2 or Five Live anyway. Hopefully it will be a success though, I think the Beeb are going to be building up to it quite heavily.

That would be nice.

I think they would try to find another slot for Chris, he has outperformed the station as a whole in terms of ratings over the last six years.

Gonna attempt to stay Ad but majorly busy at the min. Noticed I've been kicked out of the private area - serves me right! :) I need to change my sig but I can't be bothered. Remind me to never get into a car with you Topher!

What I want to know is why Radio 1 haven't signed Richard Bacon yet. Far better than Vernon bloody Kay.

Ha, it was quite funny actually. I'm the first to admit I was driving like a prick, I haven't done it since... Anyway, you drive different with other people in the car.

I hope, for his sake, that Moyles is a success on breakfast. I agree that if he isn't it could spell the end of his time at Radio 1. It's a big risk because the afternoon show is popular and 'safe' for him. I think he'll be great if he can do his own thing and maybe get a bit of a change in the music policy. He will have to watch for the complaints though, you can't get away with those close-to-the-knuckle comments and jokes that make the afternoon show so funny when you are on breakfast... remember when Zoe Ball said f*ck! I laughed my ass off that morning!

Its finding the boardline and where not to step across. Sara Cox gets away with loads of stuff.

We'll just have to see really. If The Chris Moyles Breakfast Show isnt a success, it would Radio 1's fault wouldn't it? I think they've made a good choice and we just have to wait and see in January. There isn't a change in music policy - its the same play list and of course its his show so he'll be able to play the odd song.

Like I say - lets wait and see.

Welcome to the board.

With regard to getting away with things, I think it depends how bad he makes it sound.

God knows how Mark and Lard got away with several of their features, not least Fat Harry White.

He sounded awful today. Bowman said bollocks a couple of weeks ago. Can you say bollocks on the radio?

Colin said it was his first time of swearing on air but I thought I'd heared him say f*cking hell before.

Yes, but it's not a good idea on R1. On Xfm they say s*** fairly regularly. On radio 4 they are F-ing and blinding all over the place if it is 'art', even at 2 in the afternoon.
