Ok, if anyone could help or advise (same thing??) then it would be much appreciated...

Getting new computer soon, so this piece of junk staring at me will be moved downstairs with my decks etc, for music production/remix work. Now seriously needs an upgrade if it's gonna hold 4 beats together... soooo it's the memory, hard disk, and soundcard that need upgrading. No, there's no need to roll out laughing on the floor, or indeed feel pity for that matter :-[ :), but here is what this is at, at the moment:

HDD - 1.48Gb
Memory - 48Mb
Soundcard - uknown origin (no idea where that came from or what it is - dad's mate brought it round, and came home to find a new sound card - hmm...)

Back to the point - would just like to know where and what i should be looking for, as i am crap with things like this and adopt the "expensive=good" in these situations when upgrading... :)

Much appreciated.

Oh, and everything will be swiped off this pc, though the current 1.48Gb, 48Mb Ram, will still not be enough...

Memory prices are low at the moment - I picked up a 40gig drive for 70quid (with delivery) at simply.co.uk. I think you can get 256megs of RAM for about 30 quid as well - not sure about that. And I picked up a soundcard for less than 10 quid that sufficies for all my needs. My advice is to get a lead that connects the headphone/speaker soccet of your pc to the 'line in' or 'aux' soccet of your hifi. Thats what I do - got my computer hooked up to a 7 speaker system :)

smmmmmmmeeeelllllllll the basssssss

Be sure to get a 7200rpm disc if you're doing audio editing, especially if you're multi-tracking.

M

Just itching to 're-touch' the vengaboys classic eh?... ;)

would start with VTT (Virtual Turntables) simple two-deck mixing to get you on your feet... just practise keeping the beats in time with each other - after mastering that...it all comes from the head :)
