Doesn't Sky use the same transmitters as freeview?

Sky used to be lame for us, the BBC channels were always dodgy, although it's not so bad now we've moved house. You can also pick up East Midlands news via Sky which is useful because we recieve the wrong one.

im not sure, but in my old house, we had cable in on room, but the people who lived there before us had it in another room aswel, and we could still receive some of the (poorer) channels, such as sky news, the box etc through our normal arial.

I don't know much about these things, but doesn't Sky come from a satellite as apposed to a transmitter?

good point. perhaps he meant does freeview use the same transitters as sky?

this may work as the old On digital used to go through sky and thats basically what freeview is without the millions (over exaggeration) of other channels.

Tho im probably wrong (again!)

yes and no

the dish doesnt link straight to the satellite (floating around in the big blackness of space), it goes via a transmitter first

Actually, I think I was wrong in the first place, I think it does come directly from the Sattelite. My dad used to spend hours trying to align the dish so it was pointing directly at the sattelite, but to no avail.

Yep, uses three (I think) geostationary satellites going round the equator.
