The makers of Galaxy ice cream have withdrawn billboard adverts featuring the phrase since anti-racism groups protested.

“Catch a n****r by his toe” is the next line of the poem in one version which used to be popular in the Deep South.

Newer versions replace n****r with “fishy” and “tiger” but the first line still offends the black community, says pressure group Blink.

Masterfoods apologised and explained “As far as we were concerned, in this day and age, the words were commonly used to show the difficulty in making a choice”.

the local shop is doing 3 solero mixed berry ice creams for 99p, a bargain. also the ice cream man comes round our way around half 5. then again, the divvy i recollect was still going round at the end of november.

our ice cream van comes round every day apart from christmas day!

I remember when I was youger we had two ice cream vans and one day they'd had enough of each other so they both got out and had an argument in the middle of the street. Ahhh those were the days.

hehe thats really funny. I used to love watching the ice cream van come last summer at my old house and all the kids go racing into their houses to get money and then racing back out again to catch the ice cream van before it leaves
