Sheep454, i'm about 98.34% sure it's got nothing to do with the mobile, or the network the mobile's on, logic says it's gotta be something at the receiving end, because if the message can't be accepted on the landline phone it will just say "message not delivered" on the senders phone, i mean.. i said earlier cos a text message is just a text message wherever it's come from, doesn't matter what network it is once it gets out onto the national phone grid does it? I have no idea how these things work, i'm just trying to think logically..

It doesn't matter what phone it is, it depends on BT. I think the exchange must have to support it.

But what a weird accent the woman does it in..... if you text somthing like "Hello to you, this is avid merrion, poo to you, thank you please" its as if the woman is putting on an avid merrion accent.

Sionide wrote:ah, bingo - you need BT with the caller display service which costs extra.. that's what it is..

No.

BT.com wrote:3. BT's Caller Display service
You need BT's Caller Display service if you'd like to read your messages as texts. If you don't have this service, you can still receive messages on your home phone but these will be delivered as voice messages.
