I don't only listen to corporate bands..I have a warped music taste fro Rammstein to Norah Jones and Alanis Morissette. IT's just whatever I like, not what everyone else likes, and thats the way music should be.

But yes, the Chilis do have a more universal appeal, but that is well deserved. I wish I was going to see them again..they better come back to Scotland soon. Or just the UK, I'd just have to save.

rhcp is like jane's addiction- they got all wanky and experimental with age. i'm sorry, but they don't seem innovative anymore. i'm not against universal appeal at all. i think some bands deserve it. yes, the chilli peppers worked hard to get where they are, and i'm happy they're rich and fat. i just think it's sad that they're not as interesting as they used to be (i guess because they're old), and people still consider them something of cutting edge/alternative. at least they get to take a butt load of money to the bank.

the same could be said for any number of bands that peaked long ago. u2 comes to mind, as does REM. (oh how i wish they would have broken up!) oh yeah, and i'm sure the new green day.

i guess another part of this is, i generally dislike the music industry. sad, no? for me, ones politics and the music they listen to are something of the same thing. truly independent record lables are something i hold quite dear, and i really respect bands that are more about putting out good records than commercial success. i've had to deal with so many bands that just want to get signed to a major lable but have nothing to back up the desire. i've also seen many bands turn down offer that would make them huge because they didn't want to change what they were doing.

i know people who have "sold out" and its somewhat laughable. afi is a good case. their music has changed drastically since signing to a major lable, and so have their attitudes. they used to be the good guys in the east bay, and now they just suck. oh well. you live you learn. i know i would be hard pressed to sign away my life if the time has ever come, but i tend to break up bands after we release a record, so it's not an issue.

so either care a little or care a lot, but don't try to have your cake and eat it too.

I like what I like, and I don't really care what anyone else thinks. I don't think people should tell me what music I should like and what music I shouldn't like. Why should I need a reason to like something?

I went Friday and loved it butt he only thing was that i was near the back and couldnt really get any nearer to the front and so had to watch the big screens instead of the stage. James Brown and Stellastar were both rubbish

Rammstein are effin' amazing, I was just listening to their Mutter album the other day for the first time in ages, its brilliant. They great live too. I'm not a big fan of the Chillis though, in my opinion they are vastly overrated and only have a few good songs (Give it Away, Californication and Love Rollercoaster) and I hate the guitarist with a passion.

What guitarist, there's two? Bass is Flea, the other is John Frusciante.

thats the only pass i had when i got the pic taken, but i also had a black wristband which was "ClearChannel Guest - AAA" so i could get into the whole of hospitality and on the balcony on the side of the stage.

although saying that i had a press pass i could have used but left it at home.

John is the guitarist, Flea is the bassist.

I meant that. John is my favourite, he's amazingly talented. His cover of I Feel Love got on the Live Album, can't wait.
