I ask this because i have just signed up and will soon present some shows in the summer. Hope you listen because there is a lot of talent on there.

what is it, like public radio?

it's an internet only radio station where people can sign up and present from their home PC. It's completely free and good experience for later on in life if you want to become a DJ on another station such as local radio. i wouldnt be surprised if there will be a R1 DJ that has come from CMP radio in the next 20 years.

you may be able to sign up still.... i did it this afternoon when i got home. They will allow you to sign up but after a while they close the signup form until there are vacant spaces

There's a couple of people here that present on CMP Radio.

David Lewis's show is good one, for example.

Prime time lol thats the only time available, they seem to fly out real quick.

Any tips as to whens the best tme to go on for one?

well, the schedule reopens for the following week at 12.30am on a Monday morning... if you deffinetly want a primetime slot then you really have to be around at that time.

However if you continue to check the schedule through out the week, people may cancel shows and slots will become free etc...

so this thing just accepts anyone to do whatever they like on the air?? sounds a little bit risky to me..

I think they regulate it, and you can only listen on-line, so they must have enough of a delay to be able to cut you off if needs be.

but still, you'd have thought they'd want people who

a) have a decent net connection, for streaming audio on the upstream you need a pretty fat pipe unless you wanna do it at 25k or some shit..

b) some experience in radio, be it online or not.. there would NOTHING worse than listening to something who doesn't have a clue what they're doing.. "oh yeah here's another track ... if i can get the peggin thing to work that is.."

I guess the songs are played off another server anyway.

It's internet radio, they aren't going to expect people to have experience in radio. If they are that bad they might not get another show time though.

Well the guy who is on right now is terrible.

Still, at least they stream in MP3 so I can use my Squeezebox to listen.
