They use Real media to SEND the audio from the user to the studio, so it's slightly better quality than using a 24kps shoutcast stream. As for music, its all streamed out from the users end.
As for the guy sounding terrible...
"This will be Alex Smith's 2nd show"
The whole idea is to give everyone a chance at a compeltely legal station. Afterall it's something to put on the CV which is what getting into radio is all about. There will obviously be bad presenters, and good ones. Hopefully the good ones may get recognised...
A lot of people do slate them for being rubish at times, however they do give people a chance that no one else seems to do.
But they seem to be becoming pretty successful. Been running for over a year now, and it is now paying its way.
