The place where everyone hangs out, chats, gossips, and argues

Just read in this mornings Daily Telegraph....nearly choked on my croissants...
"Chris Evans is to produce a new Channel 5 show to be fronted by Radio 1 DJ Chris Moyles.
He has signed a contract for 65 shows to be screened over 13 weeks.
The early evening chat show will have a similar format to Evans' former Channel 4 programme TFI Friday.
The new Moyles show will be screened five days a week from September.
Channel 5's director of programming Kevin Lygo said: "When I came to Channel 5 I did say that Chris(Evans)would be the perfect entity to be asociated with the station".
"People forget that he is probably the best producer of entertainment programming in the country."

Signs of this relationship were shown a week ago.

Remember moyles talking about drinking in a small village pub in surrey at one weekend and staying at someones place which had 'a thousand bedrooms'?

Turns out Evans has a rather large property located in surrey and can often be seen drinking soft drinks at a local village pub.

Not the strongest of links tis true.

Since theres alot of unemployed people on this board, perhaps we should start a new thread in which we publish our overblown cv's and pray that moyles puts in a good word to Mr Lord Evans about our future employment situations.

I think we're seeing the end of Moyles on R1 - remember last year he wanted the breakfast show. I suspect he's realised he's not getting a promotion in the beeb and is out of there.

Moyles said last year that he is doing his ideal job at the ideal time and he never wants to leave Radio 1, not even for tv.

So Moyles and Evans are both front men for the show, or is Evans just the producer?
I dunno if this is good news actually, i've always thought that Moyles doesn't come across very well on TV, we've all seen him on BBLB and Big Brother. I also hope his radio show wont lose quality as more effort is put into the TV show, or even worse, Moyles leaves R1.

[edit] Ahh, didnt know that David, just ignore last bit of my post ;) [/edit]

This is more than likely the end of Moyles on R1...

Early Eve? If its 6 o clock, then hes lost his radio show... time to go through scripts and get to the studio.. unless last 45 mins is pre recorded - still pushing it...

If the tv prog is pre recorded, radio still gone, unless done early morning.. Moyles would be in Radio1 by at least midday...

Of course, early evening could be 8pm, and all would be heaven, but very much doubt it.

The other possibilty is, the major changes at Radio1 happening soon, there's be some talk about schedule changes.

and forgot to mention, his TV contract is only lasting for 13wks.. and the Beeb is not gonna let him fly about so he may be using these 13weeks on Channel 5 as a gateway - you gotta start somewhere!

((Sorry for posting as Guest, but I signed up ages ago and I can't be pooped to get me password, only post once every 6 months anyway :) ))

Once again - why would Moyles leave Radio 1 when he said it was his dream job and he doesn't wont to leave it? Maybe I could understand if he wanted to leave if he was going to some major tv programme with lots of viewers and he will get lots of money but I doubt he would leave Radio 1 to go to a) Channel 5 b) a show that may not be successful and c) doubt he would get more money there that at Radio 1.

As one of the five people in the country (or so it feels like) not already switched to some form of digital telly I only caught a couple of minutes of Moylesy's UKPlay show once when I was over at a friend's house. From what I saw I wasn't too impressed.

I'm firmly of the opinion that Dave and Chris are a lot better at writing for radio than they are for TV. If this Evans collaboration is really going ahead then I'd be interested to see the result, mainly as I suspect Evans will probably throw writers at Moyles by the dozen. - jc

moyles is the new evans, as has been said many times before by evans himself and others. channel 5 are really trying as hard as they can with their new programs - getting in some top [former ch4] bosses, presenters and now, in evans, a great producer. this new show could go either way - tfi (early days) or priory (another ginga production). it will probably be filmed on the day of transmission, like daily graham norton, but i doubt it will be live cos not many things are nowdays (especially not evan's stuff).

all evans' projects are, in some way, transplants of radio shows (big breakfast, tfi, etc) so why not get the best man in radio to front it? comparisons to the ukplay show are unfair - this is it. i don't see him giving up radio 1 (hes still under contract), so it'll be interesting to see what, if anything, he says on monday.

This TV Programme sounds interesting. Unfortunatly, this is one of the times when I'm peed off that I can't get channel 5. :(

As far as this whole "End of Moyles" thing is concerned, I agree with David. He always said it was his dream job, and I don't think he'd leave it, especialy not for TV work. Why would he need to leave it anyway? It wouldn't exactly take up too much of his time, and plenty of Radio DJs to TV and Radio work (Zoe Ball, Terry Wogan, Chris Tarrant, etc, etc). If anything, the Beeb will see that this will only help boost his ratings. I think the future's looking bright for Moyles.

Funky - You aint missing much from C5, they occasionally have some good films, but most of the stuff is utter crap. I also think Moyles doesn't translate well onto TV, although with a good team behind him it may go well.
I read on teletext that the show is to filmed after the 3-6 radio show, bad point may be that if he is working shit loads his radio show may deteriorate.
Finally, does anyone listen to Xfm, as im sure Zoe Ball is doing some DJing there, maybe it was just my hearing though.

If Moyles keeps drive at Radio 1 he's still going to be overworked...

"Radio is his dream job" - fair enough, as I said he may not leave Radio 1 but I would be very surprised if he keeps his drive time slot in October..

Mark & Lard will more than likely leave in October.. Moyles could go there with Mills to take drive... Chris could always get the breakky show :D

Chrismoyles.net Latest News wrote:Channel 5 for Moyles [Posted 7 July by chris]

Chris Evans has signed a £4 million deal with Channel 5 relaunching his television career behind the cameras.

Evans will produce a new early-evening chat show, similar format to TFI Friday to be screened five days a week from September.

The programme is to be fronted by Chris Moyles and will run for an initial 65 shows over 13 weeks.

I remember in a book I read about R1 Evans was quoted as saying something like "I like Chris Moyles. I think he could be the new me."

Scary thought - Moyles with glasses and ginger hair! 8O

It said in the Daily Mail (scum paper) that Moyles has just signed a two year contract with r1. So I guess he's staying, hopefully in the same time slot.
