Fair recompense for a wrong and decent protection for the victim of a crime. People need to see that proper punishment is being dished out otherwise they'll think its a free for all. At the moment we have a system of punishment that protects and cares for the accused not the victim.

Yes well that's all very well and good but the reality is very different. This 'eye for an eye' ideology is quite frankly ridculous - how can you right a wrong with another wrong. Then when a punishment for murderer ends with the 'murderer' being killed and 10years later it is found that he/she is infact innocent then you're pretty b*ggured really..

Yes well obviously nothing and nobody is completely unbiased - but an eye for an eye apathy is utterly childish and solves nothing especially when you start to take it literally.
