At the risk of upsetting our American friends again this game was designed so that fat people could actually be good at a sport (like Sumo but less entertaining). Any game that they can jump up an down over running five yards forward is a bit naff for me.

New England my arse.

Yeah at the moment it's just rugby for poofs, an aspect much discussed in my local Rileys this evening.

I had someone trying to explain American Football to me the other day - said it was like a game of chess only with physical contact - can't see it myself.

Think it would be like most games. More fun to play and to watch if you actually understood the rules :)

hmm the usual crap from unbelievers. The only real reason to knock this game is the damn stoppages which means the game as no flow at all. however....
1)fat people? Thes guys are actually musclar 250 pound men. To get this guys to be so atheletic is an achievement in its self. alot of rugby players are just fat gits

2)american football a pansy game? how come most rugby players are public school toffs? They where all that protective gear because virtually anything goes in the game in terms of tackling. you could practically sit on a guys head to get him to release the ball and it would be legal.

3)These are big powerfull cool dudes, great seeing all the postering and chest beating. makes a change from soccer, skinny muppets runing around the pitch kicking each others shins thus creating a mass retarded brawl.

cmon, get real

I like how you explain the sterotypes of American Football, by dishing out a load of sterotypes of other sports

So did steroid freak Brock Lesnar make it into one of the teams or what?

I mean that was why he left WWE a while back, because he thought he could make it in NFL. Very disappointed if he did, but would kinda prove my point.... outside of his wrestling persona he was about as hard as a sponge with rubber padding round it.

and how many 'toffs' play rugby (in any form)? Is Johnny Wilkinson a 'toff'? didn't think so.

Out of the england squad that won the 2003 world cup, only 4 did not go to public school. please explain how this is a sterotype?

dont care bout rugby but i love american football

calling them fat men is a bit stupid, the receivers are atheletes who can run about 10.5 second 100 metres.

Rugby league is a proper sport and union played in a New Zealand style is good (ie give it to the backs)

Statistics can prove anything. 75% of people believe that. (Old joke)

The comments that you made was derrogatory to other sports whilst defending one you clearly like - hardly a constructive argument. And what does it matter if a lot of them went to public school (Which a lot of "rugby" players don't - there is another code which won the world cup way before Wilkinsons lot). hardly makes the game any less tougher to play
