The layout has to be considered much more carefully too, not just straight across the middle. As with all design (T-shirts) or otherwise, it's all about the design.
Hello,
The font is totally customizable, if someone wants different fonts we can do that. Our default font is very bold and easy to read, we sell novelty t-shirts, they dont have quite the same effect if the person looking at it cannot understand what it says. Also people's tastes vary alot, someone might want an "old english" style font with 'its a horn of plenty' written on, they might think it looks great; someone else may want a grafitti style, and so on.
we have used various fonts and specialist fonts which also work well, if people request something like a grand theft auto font we can do that, etc.
As for the positioning we have had few problems with it. The text goes across the chest unless of course you ask for it in a different place, but the majority of the custom shirts we do customers just want their desired message on the shirt, they do not put emphasis on the exact positioning.
But thank you for the critism, some people obviously do like them as we are selling them and recieving positive feedback
