Apparently EMI or some company deleted Elvis from the catalogue the week of the release of Gareth Gates' new single in order to give him a clear shot at number one. If that's the case then the charts are obviously rigged and shouldn't be trusted. - jc

charts are crap. idlewild got to #15 i think in its first week which was an
outrage.

It was BMG (coincidently Gates' record company) who deleted Elvis from the shops this week.

i agree. charts = bollocks. it's certainly no way to decide what you're gonna by in the shops or what is popular. I mean, looking at the charts, how much of that stuff actualy gets playlisted because it's popular with the target audience? Not a lot!

I must be the only one to find the Idlewild song very mediocre. I thought 15 was a good place considering.

i dont know why everyone moans about the charts its a record of music sales not music quality. theres no other way to do a chart an it tends to be the people that download music (ie not paying to get it into the charts) that moan the most....

If you just listen to songs that you like, then why give a toss about how well music does in the chart? However, I do agree that probably most of the people who buy Gareth Gate's single bought it just because it was gareth gates rather than buying it because they like the song. Anyway, it's only going to get worse with all these 'pop idol' style crap shows around at the minute. Soon the chats will be full of Gareths and Wills.
I've given up caring about the charts anyway.

how can people buy a single simply cos it's garret gates? he looks retarded and he sounds prepubescent. not a winning combination in my book.

Tell that to the thousands of people that bought it.

ahh jesus Kendra, its been told in about 3 other threads but ill tell it again

Gareth Gates record company is BMG
Elvis record company is BMG/RCA

Now in order for Gareth to get a clear run at Number One, BMG would delete the Elvis track at the exact time as Gareths single being released. Now they have denied that this is true but the facts are laid bare to you in black and white. Its not really a conspiracy because its true that they desperately want the gimp at number 1. If he were to have a Number 2 its career suicide. and as soon as that happens its BYE BYE POPIDOL. Hear'say last single was deemed a flop and it got to Number 4.

Yeah, Victoria Beckham gets a number two single and what do you see? "POSH SPICE FAILS IN BID FOR TOP SPOT." No "oh, she did really well to make number two."

Where do you get sales figures from, uglybob? - jc

That scooter track makes me physically sick, I saw the video to it for the first time the other day, I hate it how they are attempting to be cool by putting on a fake drag race with 2 cars, only little kiddies who have no idea of scooters past would buy that crap

But its all down to personal choice I guess, one good thing did come out of me watching Music TV though Primal Scream's "Miss Lucifer" and the Prodigys "Babys got a temper" where on shortly after, which was nice
