Your friends are quite clearly either a) not doing their job properly b) secondary school teachers.

I am a primary school teacher and I do not have course notes to work from, just some books/folders etc that give themes and ideas but these need to be collated together along with other resources and my own ideas to form just one lesson. I have to plan 5 lessons of maths a week (at least 4 hours work) and 5 lessons of English (again, 4 hours ish) and this is on top of the actual teaching - in my own non paid time. I also have 33 kids in my class and that means 33 lots of books to be marked for every lesson so even if you forget the other lessons like art, geography, science etc then thats 66 books to mark every night which is at least an hour and a halfs work.

believe me, if i didnt have to plan these lessons I wouldn't - I HATE planning and marking but do enjoy the actual teaching. The kids may go home at half three but Im there til at least 5, probably half past before I go home, have my dinner then have to do another couple of hours work. The only day I go home straight away is a friday and this isnt good cos I have to do all fridays marking and the week's planning on a Sunday.

And this is just a normal week, what about when I have to write 33 (personal) reports and attend meetings (most nights) and do parenets evenings (when im in school from 8am til 8 or 9pm. It is not easy and as for the holidays, I may get a lot of them but a) they are very well deserved and b) mist of the time is spent working. oh yeah, I almost forgot - all this for just £18,500 a year!

By the way, gaspode - I knew you were being sarcastic, I was kind of aiming my last post at Betti.

Dunno how the triple posts happened. My computer needs a little maintence me thinks.

I haven't been v productive today Gaspode to be fair. This hasn't been helped by the fact that someone has stolen my dictaphone machine and I have a PMT so I wouldn't mess with me :)

Nice find! Seems like it's British episodes though, so you can't see them in advance.
