The place where everyone hangs out, chats, gossips, and argues

Anyone hear Tony Blair interviewed on Radio 4's Today programme this morning. Unbelievable. Too many bits to mention but the pinnacle was perhaps John Humphries questioning the PM about the £100000 grant the Labour Party had recently accepted from Micheal Buyers owner of the Daily Express and some other er....less family orientated titles. 'Nice Jugs' 'Posh Women' 'Big and Bouncy' recited Humphries in a commendably straight tone. "Do you know what these magazines are like"? The reply was predictably Nixonian. "No I do not"
Now Tony Blair may not read those magazines, he may not have even heard of them, but he knows what they are like. Just as one does not need to subscribe to Railway Modeller to surmise that it contains articles about modelling railways. It would've been too much to have hoped for him to chirp "Yes they're full of unfashionably moustached men joylessly copulating with photographically enhanced young women" but to pretend he has no knowledge of these magazines contents displays an unmeasured amount of disrespect to the voting public. How stupid does he think we are? Why couldn't he have just said "Yes I do-but the Labour Party is strapped for cash enough as it is at the moment and we'll take any money we can get thank you very much".
Someone pass me a soapbox.

My other favourite bit: When asked whether he thought the Bibles 7 day creationism story should be taught as fact in schools, "I do not know for sure that it is so I do not know if that is an appropriate question" he whittered, while I willed John Humphries to grab him by the lapels and yell "FOR GODS SAKE MAN SHOULD WE TEACH OUR CHILDREN THAT GOD PULLED THE UNIVERSE OUT OF A HAT IN A WEEK!? JUST ANSWER THE BLOODY QUESTION!"

I met John Humphrys last year. I didn't like him one bit (and he didn't seem to like me either). Very big headed (him that is, not me)...

I was much amused when he was introduced to hundreds of people as "Brian Humphrys" - classic :)

Speaking of meeting famous people when I was eight years old I stayed at Mrs Marlows B+B in Lyme Regis and I saw the girl from 'Brother Beyond' sunbathing NUDE on the lawn. At least I think it was the girl either that or I was looking at the fat one with the moustache upside down. I can prove this because I remember Mrs Marlow served us prunes for breakfast, there was a pond with goldfish in, and every morning I brought a comic from the newsagent across the road.

politicians not answering questions straight? oh my god! what next? shock jocks being offensive?

tony blair is swine, but he's the swine your country re-elected with quite the mandate. he got of my list of "mps i'd like to shag" long ago.

as for celebs i met- saw chris evans at the retro bar, saw thome yorke there too. best though- meeting robin cooke (not on the list), jack straw (on the list), gordon brown (head of the list), and alistair campbell outside of #10. i also got to shake blair's hand that day and then i fell on top of a cow from manchester who shoved me back into the fence.

hague's a fool, that's true. ids looks like he could be electable, especially if the brown fails us with the economy.

i still don't undestand why more people don't vote for regional parties or the libdems. it seems like people are truly dissaffected with labour (as we americans despise the democrats now), but you do have a choice!

charles kennedy, on the list.

its Ian Duncan Smith by the way now but its easy to mix the two up as they both are as charisma free.

I hate Gordon Brown. They say theres 'never a frown with Gordon Brown' but I find him tecchy and ignorant, and once when I told him my pea soup was too hot he poured half of his glass of 'evian' into it. Surley thats not the answer.

i wrote a song called "never a frown with gordon brown" it'll be the a-side to "prescott and his fists of fury".

robert- ids, hmm... looks like iain duncan smith, now doesn't it? i know that many people who like to write about duncan smith frequently, shorten his name down to "ids". i will write out "iain duncan smith" in full from here on out.

"ids looks like he could be electable" hahaha not a chance if he is elected i will eat my hat (its a vimto one). William Hague was the best politician the tories had in ages but the party is dieing on its arse because the nobodys and the lunatics are taking over.

the problem with voting i have is i'd like to vote lib dem but i like our (labour) MP. time for proportional representation i feel.......

What regional parties? I'm sure you only get them in Wales and Scotland.
Last general election I had the choice of Labour, conservative, Lib. Dems., green, and I think one of those time-warped no-hopers like 'Socialist alliance' or something; needless to say I just ticked the lot and spoilt my ballot paper.
