i find that stories about the team are way more entertaining than regular features. and also if any members of the team know any secrets about eachother they should be told! on air. for our listening enjoyment!

Wow, that really is cool. The last listen again half hour was probably the best half hour on the breakfast show since it began.

They're not allowed to play music anyway

I'd quite like to see Buzz Off back after the break, as that gave an excuse to play good music, rather than just playlist rubbish which has since filled it's slot.

As for Chris Moyles Extra, can't think of anything in particular I'd like, just an extra half hour of the pointless general ramblings would do me.

Cool,
Chris taking the michael out of the crew is always good, maybe a special guest could be brought on so everyone could take the michael?

which reminds me....

Question for Aled; What is the longest time Rachel has gone without changing her Knickers?

Errrm Make sure Will's in he was a laugh last time about his video renting and what not, Get Culshaw in if you can would be good if he could do some of what he is best at.

Can you sing a capella by any chance I remeber in the bit where you covered for Jo Whiley Dave and Dom were gonna do some stuff in the Live Lounge.

Also i am not sure if you're allowed to but how about some Wills Music that would be great to see a return. A Dave EQF would be good and ... How about the return of Viaduct aint heard that in ages :)

Yeah, get Dave and Dom's band (can't remember the name) to do some more stuff.

Aled - what is that inflatable monkey doing in the corner of the studio and why is it there? Is it anything to do with your show?

It'd be cool if you could manage a parody for this week just for listen again, if there's any ideas kicking around.

I agree with the top 10 parodies idea. Or you could do another amusing p take of Scott Mills on Your Call with just parodies. Or split the Top 10 up through the week.

But they are not allowed to play music on the extra half hour, and that would include parodies as you still have to pay royalties to the writer of the track.

No they're not allowed to play PLAYLISTED music the way I understand it if I'm reading this quote right.

Aled wrote:...it won't be playlist music - as we're not allowed to play them.

Song parodies are not playlist (with the possible exception of Aberystwyth at the moment) so I think they'd be exempt. Thats why the top 10 parodies idea would be good.

Last time wasn't it dubious they could even play the backing Beds? The only thing they got away with was the guess who music IIRC, and even then they weren't too sure.

It was my understanding that the BBC only had rights from the music companies to put on so many hours on the listen again, and by putting an extra half hour might have caused problems. So last time the only thing they were positive they could play was the show themes written by Music4.

However I suppose since then, everything on Radio 1 has gone Listen Again so there are a lot more hours, and this CM Extra has been planned in advance so maybe they have permission (last time it was setup last minute during the show).

Aled...?

And would we not rather hear a 30 minute long link from the team than breaking it up by playing music?

I'm not an expert in this field and there are two whole departments in the BBC that deal with this very issue - Online and Music Dept and I'm not in either so apologese if I get one of the details wrong. But I believe the problem is that Record Companies probably aren't keen on songs that haven't been released yet being online. So, I'd imagine, the deal struck with the BBC for allowing their music to be in any digital form online is that it is completely faithful to what went out on air and it is in fact the show you can listen back to not individual songs. That would therefore be different if we did an extra session for online only as their songs would be played for online content only and therefore against the deal struck with the Record Companies.

I used the term 'playlisted' songs to differentitate between beds and tracks meaning commercial tracks released by a record company and a bed. I can't remember where we stand on beds because we only pay royalties on tracks played on air. Music 4 was different as we could call them and ask permission.

I'd like to see some Chris Moyles Gold. I know we've got this site to listen back to stuff, but how about playing back some of the finest moments from the shows.

And speech is more entertaining. Theres no point giving us extra half an hour just to hear more music!

Okay would parodies count as commercial? i.e. do they get money for rights to make a parody of songs they own?, as that's the only way I can see that there would be any problem, legally speaking, with playing Moyles show parodies.
