On 9/11 (or 11/9 since we're in Britain) me and my brother had to go to Morrisons in Coalville to buy beer. On the way there my brother got a call from his girlfriend who was worried about some friend who worked in New York or something. Then we put Radio 5 on.
When Di died we were camping the night before and I had to get up early to do my Sunday paper-round. The only paper it was mentioned in was the Telegraph and it said it had had 'uncofirmed reports' that Diana had been in a fatal crash in the early hours of the morning, but made it out as though it was unlikely to be true. When I finished my paper round I went back to the field where we were camping and everyone knew.
