in theory a cat always lands on its feet right?
and if you drop a piece of bread it always lands butter side down right?
so..if you stucka piece of bread to the back of a cat butter side up and dropped them sideways which way would it land???

it would be sucked into a black hole before it had a chance to land either side down.

and who would eat that bread anyhow?

Cats don't always land on their feet.

As the bread and the cat would both be trying to hit the ground the cat would end u[p spinning around its axis a fraction of an inch above the floor

I'm assuming that for the purposes of this post a cat will always land on its feet. Otherwise there was very little point to your question in the first place...

...and therefore this whole thread is a complete waste of time.

then in theory.....

via inserting a pole into the cats ass, you could power some sort of appliance.....hmmmm, cat/toast generator eh?

This idea has potential....

(That's a physics 'joke')

Logically then, since neither the cat can land on it's back, or the toast buttered side up, the two objects will float, spinning madly in mid air. For one of them to fall would break the laws of physics.

With this in mid, if you affixed the cat/toast contraption to the bottom of a train and gave it a push, it would continue in a straight line until it met an opposing force. Using this information, it should be possible to replace the internal combution engine for the price of a few tins of Whiskers and some Flora.

i didnt just make that point did it? of using it as a generator....wait, yes i did

What happens if the piece of bread comes unstuck? Which will land first? The bread or the cat?

it would be bound with the strongest addhesive known to man - duct tape

thus, it would never come unstuck

Cats get sick if subjected to prolonged periods of spining. It's only fair you give them a break every so often...

According to intense investigation by Einstein, felines* (including the somewhat common household cat) when subjected to a Hovis and Flora diet can survive for long periods of rotation (but not in excess of 3 G) due to the magic properties of secret ingredients used in the production of Hovis ("Heaven knows how they make it so breadlike.")
