have you ever played sunday league football? sunday league is not real football.

no I've watched plenty of it... it is to pro football what Rugby is to American Football.

add in a little mixed martial arts (ala something like UFC and other cage based combat sports) to get sunday league and it gets more interesting.

Also theres plenty of other football threads where I havent intervened, so MC is wrong... what a surprise.

I love the way you totally go off on one about someone else over-reacting. Smell the irony.

Ok. I overreacted. You are correct DemonHorse, you don't intervene in every thread.

DemonHorse wrote:No football isn't about that, everyone knows it's all about money, at the level that gets shown on TV anyways.

DemonHorse wrote:I know what ya mean, I was using to make my point. I personally can't see what's so great about it, if i want to watch it, I'll go see a pub team, not a bunch of overpaid ponces.

DemonHorse wrote:Totally agree, the 1 form of footie I will watch coz it aint a bunch of overpaid tw@ts... but from all Ive seen Premiership etc is getting more violent by the week... they'll have to merge it with Ultimate Fighting Championship soon.... (mixed-martial arts fighting for real, not fake a la wrestling...)

DemonHorse wrote:oh get out the bloody violin.

so a football team with a multi-million bank account and assets get a few million less next year? Oh yes I feel so bloody sorry for them..... How will the players afford their new BMWs and mansions now...

Never a more true word spoken... or written for pedantry fans on here.

Didn't Gerard try to claim he wasn't moving for the money though?
(total BS of course, whichever footballer says it.)

wrong... sunday league is REAL football... where the players do it for the love of the sport, not the massively overblown wages.

DemonHorse wrote:I could say the same about footballers, who are far more overpaid primadonnas than ANY F1 driver....

What???

A scandal... You mean the overpaid gimps would miss out on another £500,000 or whatever they get for two weeks 'work' (which takes people who do proper work months if not years to earn)

*takes out tiny violin... can't be arsed playing it, especially not for the ones like Beckham*

You get my point though? We understand you think players are overpaid. No need to tell us anymore.

Yeah, I'm admitting I do it tho. Others here will deny it of course, even though they blatently do it.

I'm just doing as people do to me.

I'm not having a go Demonhorse, but why do you go on about footballers when F1 drivers are way overpaid as well? They clearly aren't in it just for the driving

This is a genuine question, I'm not trying to wind you up btw.

and a valid point, especially considering what Jensen Button's allegedly being offered by BAR for next year despite the fact he's signed for Williams - lets not forget thats for someone who hasnt even got a race win yet.
Rare anyone makes one of those on here.

Thing is they're also doing more to earn the money IMO. Footballers do something pretty much any able bodied person can do, where as driving a superpowered car at high speeds takes skill, control, quick thinking both from drivers and strategists at extremely high levels, especially when it's practically constant for up to 2 hours per day of each event, and they have to test almost constantly when it isn't a race weekend to keep their skills sharp (though granted, not all manage to stay at that kind of level). Lets not forget all the time theyre doing this, theyre also sweating their a**es off in fireproof overalls, its not a sport they could really do in tshirt and shorts.

Sorry but I don't see the same things in footballers... not to quite the same levels anyway.

Question answered?

Yes, and no.

I see where you're coming from, and as an F1 fan, you're clearly in a position to know more about that than football. I'm no football fan either, but I think that you have made one or two sweeping generalizations. I'm not sure if any abled-bodied person can play football, that clearly isn't true if anyone saw me during PE at school. Yes people can play basic football, but people can drive basic cars, and at the highest level it clearly takes more skill to play football - something which takes time and effort to develop.

I'm in no way defending footballers high wages, but they do a lot of similar tactical things at the highest level - after all they have to maintain their fitness.

Either way Footballers and F1 drivers are way too overpaid, but that doesn't mean either are doing F*ck all for it

Yea again a good kick by Lampard.
After watching Wolves vs Southhampton the day before, it seems like you haven't seen a footbal match for a long time. Yesterdays match for entertainment comparison compared to Wolves was like this:

Wolves match = Steve Penk at his worst
Chelsea & Arsenal match = Chris Moyles in 1999

it was a pre-season kickabout at the end of the day. its hard to be entertained if you don't support one of the sides in those kind of matches.

the highlights were the way forward.

A Wolves game, better? The only "better" Wolves game I have seen was when they went up into the premiership in 2003. When they thrashed Sheffeild United 3-0 in the play-offs. I mean I like to see Wolves do well becuase they are local and a lot of people i know support them. But being realistic, compared to premiership matches, they dont match.
It was worth them being in the premiership though, when they beat Man U was a laugh. :P Doubt you'll see the likes of that again.

Oh well, all I know is i'd rather watch any team from this country. Than watch the americans play "football" (when they use their hands?!?)

the key words in my sentence were "i think".

I THINK the wolves game was better than the community shield because it was much more competitive. it actually meant something. scums first game in the championship. it was good to see how they got on. would have been better if wise had started, that would have been great wise having a midfield battle with ince. niemi was great if it wasnt for him then wolves would have had a few. just because it was 0-0 dont mean it was boring. i'd rather watch a exciting 0-0 where it means something to the teams than a boring 2-1 with pretty average goals anyway.

I see what you mean. You really hate Southhampton dont you? As much as the Wolves fans hate Camara? lol He wasn't crying because his team fell to the championship, he was crying cos he wishes he would of stopped with Wolves. He was back where he started but with a worse team.

no i dont think i hate them that much at all, well compared to some people around here i dont anyway. i have loads of scummer mates, i work in southampton at the moment as well so its more friendly banter with them. they will have their revenge next week no doubt when we get cained at home by spurs.
