I don't like Birch cos the bridge over the motorway looks like it could fall down any minute.

I love service stations, I know they're extortionate, but I just find them reassuring. I always make an effort to stop at one if I have to make any trip along the motorway.

Last night I stopped at Rownhams on M27 (on my way back from Quincyland), but only to use the loos, because I know how extortianate they are.
Stopped on the A31 to get a drink and munchies, about 10 miles up the road.
Bottle of coke at Rownhams = £1.25
Bottle of coke on A31 = 99p
and I think 99p is still expensive.

Yeh, small ones.. prefer bottles when driving, much easier than the cans.

I'm not sure which Motorway services I would call my favourite, but when I was a cabbie and we finished at around 4am, we used to pile into a 'bus' and drive out to Cartgate services on the A303, and have a full english, that was great....... oldskool services, as in portakabin in 'picnic area' fat bloke cooking, waitress outside having a fag, and tea in a bloody great mug! :D

Sounds like that must be the same one my family used to stop at after driving all-night to get down to Cornwall for holidays. Lovely place that is. Aint been there for ages cos my family has found out that visiting Cornwall is a lot better than actually living here...

My favorite service station is Stirling services, closely followed by Stirling. Living in Shetland, a visit to a motorway service station is very exciting.

and that of course should read: "closely followed by Toddington".

Why cant we edit on this bit of the board?

Its difficult when you get caught up in the excitement of a motorway service stations based thread.

Chievely services (M4 J13, A34 north Newbury)
"Quality service at a price you can afford"

In reality "Crap service at a price you can't afford"

Bloody vodafone....

I went in Corley services today. I generally stop there on any journey involving the M6 (although on the way back I wanted a pint so I didn't stop in order to get home and in the pub before last orders).

Living in Newport Pagnell somewhat takes the novelty away from motorway service stations... I always found it outrageous that KFCs in service stations charge for their little cartons of mayonnaise, whereas any other brance not in a service station gives them away.

My local KFC charges for sauce. 15p a time. Which I think is a real ripoff seeing as it's only 10p and McDonalds.

In fact, i'm going to start a protest.

Will post pics.
