my boyfriend's brother is going for a pretty big job interview this morning at google. he's pretty nervous as could be expected.

if any of you could google; "good luck mike!" every so often between 5 and 6:30 pm (your time), that would be great since i guess he has to wait in the lobby where they scroll google searches by.

he's not sure. he just submitted his resume for any old software engineering job, and they haven't really told him what he's up for exactly. some mid level software engineer position. most likely doing something with java.

who's that?

oh wait, i should google him!

jono, why's it make you feel sad? i know it's sort of stupid, but who knows, it could give him the little boost he needs to do well. last night we met him for dinner (he lives in la), and he was a nervous wreck. i felt bad because i was just happy to get a free meal, here he's applying for his dream job of sorts.

Yay for Google. Good luck to Kendra K's bloke - hope he gets the job. The benefits for google employees are rather good.

However by the looks of things - the average google person has two or three degrees. BA, MA and PhD etc etc

Ah I misread your first post - I thought it was your bloke - didnt see the "Brother" part.

Well I hope he gets anyway. I've found google ask for waaaaaaaaaaaaaay to much from people. I suspect they get a few people applying for jobs too.

i know last night we drove by their headquarters, and there were so many people there and it was 11:00pm! they do a pretty heavy recruitment on campus for undergrads, but i don't know what they do for post graduate people. despite the long hours, it's one of the most applied to tech companies in the silicon valley.

i can't wait till my bloke starts applying to jobs. the companies won't be as cool, but i'm looking forward to all that schwag. my bet's on a job at ibm in texas.

Seems a good company to work for - i've walked passed Google UK a few times. Looking at their job adverts - and well the slightly less junior jobs are rare, it seems the jobs people can apply for example: Head of PR.

The trainee jobs are even harder to find as people at google hang on to them!

"you well be degree educated and have at least 15 years experience in PR"

15 years experience?!?!!? oh man. if you have that much experience, it's like you're starting your career all over again. or am i just old fashioned?

thanks everybody! i think he's in the interview now.
