Or a guy. The older I get the more I see all my friends settling down, becoming housewifes and setting up their own families. Its like their careers meant nothing to them.

Sometimes I wonder if the measure of sucess if how many kids you can pop out.

its all about choices betti just because you want what you want doesn't mean others are wrong.

I well want to be a stay at home dad.

Yes but people make you feel that you've made the wrong choices Gaspode. My friends always argue that I'll have to give up my career to have children or I'd be neglecting them. When I say I don't want babies for at least the next 5 yrs till I make partner they look at me as if I'm crazy.

Everyone thinks their choices are the right ones and feel guilt/regrets of what may have been so try to force those negative feelings onto others. Its just the way the world works :(

people just don't get the fact that not everybody is like them. i know when i chose not to get a phd in germanic linguistics (seriously, people do that) in favor of becoming a librarian and settling down with my boyfriend, most of my friends in grad school told me i was throwing my life away. they might be right, but i don't think i would be happy in the long run if i got some odd phd that forces me to be stuck in an industry i don't like.

betti- good on you for having realistic goals. it seems that so many people are in extremes- family and kids NOW or the career ALWAYS comes first. people need balance.

Friends will help you when your down. Those who think they are, don't often.

i refuse to believe eveyone forces their negative feelings on others. if thats true for you then you need new friends.

I think its an almost universal truth Gaspode. The people who don't feel make you feel guilty/bad about life like that are usually those who've made the same choices as you.

I don't think that's right either - friends are there to support you whatever decision you make.

Never fall in love.

Living with parents is a bad thing.

Never borrow money from parents. They won't expect it back in any hurry, but they have a hold over you while you still owe them.

And afterwards too. They expect it back 10 fold in gratitude.
