No, sorry, but I really don't subscribe to this "alcoholism is a disease" point of view. He had a choice, he ruined his liver on his own. He has no one but himself to blame.

On a related note, I'm sure I'm not the first to say it, but isn't it ironic he died the day after we went to 24 hour licensing.

He hasn't hurt no-one. So i have never understood why there has been so much hatred towards him. He was a fool, of course. Thats what he tried to show a couple of days ago with that picture. People should remember him for the footballer he was and the entertainment he provided for people.
I just watched a progarame on BBC 1 about him. I saw it a couple of years ago, but it was good to see again.

Technically you could say he hurt the person that could've had that liver and made a real go of it. It's a sad waste of life.

He was a football legend, and even as a City fan the news upset me when it finally came through this afternoon.

But I don't drink, and I'm very much against alcohol, I just don't agree with it. As someone who recently lost a family member who also didn't drink to liver disease, it's difficult to shed too many tears over a man who was given plenty of opportunities to save himself, but he chose not to take those opportunities, and that's down to him, he got what was coming to him in my opinion. Like if somebody moans to me on a Sunday morning they're hungover, I just say "Well who's fault is that?" Some might think I'm a miserable git, fair enough, that's your opinion.

Still, RIP George.
