Because the overall term for the growth on top of your head is your hair. Therefore you have your haircut.

The term fringe makes sense, the term "bangs" doesn't. A fringe doesn't go bang.

lovely- anything is possible with language.

and eddie's making sense for somebody who knows little about language. one thing linguists know is that there's rarely any good explanation for why things are, but that's why language is so neat. not in a text book ducks in a row sort of way.
