Just another media file type. Uses open source codecs, Console will love it.

Due to patent problems on the mp3 format, the people in the open source community came up with ogg vorbis, an open, patent free format. It allows very similar, if not better, compression than mp3 and loads of other options like multiple audio streams (like different languages) in a single movie ogg file. Personally, I would have done all my clips in ogg, but I don't know whether WMP can handle them, and I'd rather break a few stupid IP laws than have hassle over file formats.

You can either download VLC or download the Ogg Codec for wmp. By the way, this is why I don't use Ogg, poor support in the default windows media player.

Quintessential Player is another. On my old PC i used to have the version with a built in wav and mp3 converter (ogg to mp3). But there is a new version now and it dosent have that (i think you have to get the mp3 converter as a plug for the new version if i remember right). But the old one was the best, i am sure it is still on there somewhere.

I like Quintessential, been using it for a while now. If you prefer the older version it might (though I haven't checked) be on OldVersion.com.
