How do you guys do it?

assuming you clip everything 128kbps, it must be 190mbs a show?

Where do you keep it all, and how do you clip it all?

i record from dab for the scott mills site. others choose to record from sky, telewest, ntl or freeview.
as for storing, every now and again. i put my moyles & mills stuff onto a data disc. thinking of which i really need to do now.

Recording from Sky, how exactly does that work?

i'm not so sure about sky. i guess if it is saved on sky plus then it can be transfered to a pc somehow, or it can be plugged directly into a pc and recorded live.

I use Audacity to record from the Real player URLs then I clip it and export to MP3.

I have just edited the whole of mondays show when JK and Joel covered. I got rid of all the news and music and of course the numerous ads for the Bare all campaign and got 1hour out of it

If it was pubes you couldn't join in on account of your not reaching puberty yet.

All shows are now recorded at 192kbps from Sky Digital, as this is the highest quality source available (DAB is only broadcast at 128kbps). It is recorded via the 2 phono's on the back of the digibox.

Unfortunately there is no way to transfer a Sky+ recording to a PC due to the filing system used by the Sky+ hard drive.

They are stored and clipped via a web-based system that automates many of the processes involved in providing a sound clip to everyone on here.

Correct me if i am wrong. But i am sure i heard someone say once (possibly on here) they managed to get a saved show over to a PC, but it transfered as a video file. I think it was was mentioned in one of the request threads for the time when dave got the sting ring in new york, but i can't find it.

I dont remember that. But i do recall a topic on digital spy discussing this a while back and i'm pretty positive you cant transfer stuff, mainly down to the fact that Sky dont want people just recording things on Sky+ and being able to distribute it freely online, they're fairly vigilant on those issues.

couldn't you use a dvd rewriter and just put the show onto disc from sky+

I think DC is referring to me with the Sting Ring there. I just played out the recording from the Sky Box, through my mixer into the PC.

And with reference to transferring things from the box digitally, its not possible. Even if you took the hard drive out of the Sky box and placed it in a PC (which is theoretically possible), all the recordings would be encrypted and require the Sky box to decrypt them as it does the channels that you watch live on it.

The Sky+ Drives are actually made to certain specification and block size that no normal operating system would know how to handle.

From my experiments it seemed like they were using some sort of Linux File System, but with the drive setup rather strange meaning after a point it became unreadable to your average PC operating system.

Im not sure about them being encrypted, I think just stored in a strange way. Trust me there is alot of people working on those drives. They'll be a way around one day
