You appear to have the English confused with the Vikings there, love.

Where have you been the last 40 years? England fans usually cause mayhem abroad.

With the exception of 1977 when Scotland beat England 2-1 and our over jubilant fans invaded Wembley and smashed up your goal our behaviour is normally impeccable.

At least the English football fans have a reason to go abroad.

To fight? I prefer the Scottish reason, to get drunk, mix with opposing fans and have a good time.

No, to support England, who are actually good enough to qualify for tournaments.

My point is shut up and stop the unnecessary bitterness towards England.

Why don't you try shutting up? Its you lot who are keeping it going. Infact why don't you just pull on your red devils pyjamas with the big number 7 on the back, set your Man U alarm clock for school tomorrow and climb into your Man U bed in your Man U themed bedroom and go to sleep. That way I might get some peace.

Wish I could say likewise but it's just tedious for my part.

I was careful to use the word 'stereotypical' - stereotypes are not necessarily accurate; how many Frenchmen in Paris do you see with stripy t-shirts and a string of onions round their necks?

whytie wrote:True, everyone loves the Scots because we don't go abroad and smash up towns and fight with anything with a pulse.

How much fighting have you seen at this World Cup and how much of that has been attributed to English fans? I think you'll find the small minority that did that have had their passports confiscated for the duration of the tournament.

I've never heard that the stereotype of a Scotsman is someone with a chip on their shoulder, I've heard that we've been stereotyped as people who like a drink, and people that are tight fisted. Never as people with a chip on their shoulders though. Therefore I can only assume that this is your personal stereotyping of a Scot.

True, there has been less fighting at this world cup by England fans, but 3,500 passports confiscated is not exactly a small minority is it? This amount is only the chaps who are known to the police, including probably the top boys from every firm. Imagine if they 3,500 were there, imagine how many other England fans would join in and be spurred on if it all kicked off. Possibly tens of thousands.

Are you really saying that if Scotland had as big a fanbase as England did then they wouldn't have riots?
And you're saying your behaviour is impeccable.....

Also, Scotland do have a massive fanbase willing to travel abroad, despite being a much smaller country. Still no trouble though. So whats your point?

That Scottish Fans are just as liable to hooliganism as English Fans

whytie wrote:Of course it does, thats why you can't win with these people. They see themselves as kings of Europe. Far superior than anyone else.

who told you that some sh*t stiring newspaper?
the first thing the media do when picking up on things like this is try to expand it and make it worse. the truth is everyone has different opinions. some say we will win the whole thing, some say we wont. most just hope england will try their best as i said before. when people say positive comments about our chances, they dont direct it to scots to just try to pi*s them off.

judging english people on the few comments that you heard and the impressions that you have got is stupid. if you can't deal with all of this then it is your problem. you cant direct these comments towards english people and make these points and expect everyone to agree with you.

I think the stereotype of a Scottish football fan is one with a hatred of England and a chip on his shoulder. Don't blame me mate.

3,500 passports confiscated out of how ever many have gone abroad? I would call that a small minority. True they may not have all of them but that will be a vast majority. The bottom line is, if you believe Scotland behaves perfectly then you live a more sheltered life than the numerous people on this board whom you have accused of living a sheltered life.

I can understand why the "stereotype" in England is that Scotland "hate" England when it comes to football...the media entice it up here (especially the Scottish Sun, reporting before the World Cup why we shouldn't support England! )

Anyway, this year it seems to be worse than for a while. I am a HUGE fan of the Scotland team and hate to see them not qualify for tournaments but that is not going to stop me congratulating England on lifting the World Cup if that is the end result...at the end of the day I will congratulate the best team that wins!

Whytie, you really do not give Scotland any favours with your "views"!

Yes but it is a cliché to blame any story you don't like on sh*te journalism, especially if it's a Sun or News of the World story. While I don't like the paper myself, I don't think it's right to rubbish the story before you've done your own research to ensure it's really not true; just because you don't like the story, or indeed the paper, doesn't mean it's not true (granted it also doesn't mean it is true.)
