Predictably Chris began by playing James Milner’s goal from Leeds' 1-0 win at Charlton on Saturday. It’s not often they win so he had to milk it the best he could. However, I’m thinking that his chant of ‘now you’re gonna believe us, we’re gonna win the league’ is still a tad optimistic. Everton slipped into further relegation trouble by losing 2-0 at Bolton.

Chris - Did you have a good weekend then Dave, enjoy yourself?
Dave - Magic yeah
Chris - brilliant (plays commentary from Milner’s goal again)

Chris thanked Charlton for donating the three points. He went to the game with his mate from Leeds Rob DJ, who was down in London for the weekend. Chris made a bit of history by getting the tube with Rob to London Bridge. From there they had to catch a train to Charlton but the first one was full and they had to wait 25 minutes for another. Chris and Rob stood with some travelling Leeds fans on the platform. Chris noted the knock off burberry caps, Ben Sherman gear and old, almost retro hi-tec trainers on show from. Some of the fans spotted Chris and chanted for him to sing a song. Chris was embarrassed and didn’t. This was met with a reply of ‘There’s only one Terry Wogan, one Terry Wogan’. After the train delay, Chris and Rob DJ were 10 minutes late for kick off. As they were walking in Leeds scored. Rob DJ had travelled 200 miles for the match and missed the goal. Their seats were 3 rows behind the net and Chris said look for the two empty seats there if you see a replay of the goal. Dave said he was delighted that Leeds had won although it was lacking in a bit of sincerity. Chris decided to gloat about Everton while he could and Dave got a bit arsey with him. Everton have got Man City this weekend. Dave said he was ‘marginally worried’.

Chris had a busy weekend. After the football on Saturday, he went to see Jools Holland and his rhythm and blues orchestra at The Royal Albert Hall. Then on Sunday night he went to see the godfather of soul himself, Mr James Brown. The gig was inside a church and it will be broadcast on BBC4 around new year. He said the gig was weird at first but was much better once Brown got into it. Dave told the story of when him and Chris went to see James Brown at V98 in Leeds. They had the choice of seeing The Verve or James Brown and decided that they could see the Verve anytime and that Brown was a once in a lifetime must see. The Verve then split up shortly afterwards and Chris has now seen James Brown twice and the Verve 0 times. Dave said that they could still go and see Richard Ashcroft though. I'd recommend it as I saw him last year and he was fantastic. Dave called Dizzee Rascal Dirty Rascal by mistake after Chris played his record. Dave said he was thinking of ODB but obviously wouldn’t read ODB's full name out. Chris asked why. Dave - ‘I can’t say the word that is a b because that’s a rude word and rude words are not tolerated on Radio 1’. That of course proven by the fact the guest on the show today was Avid Merrion.

Chris talked about The All New Top Of The Pops that started on Friday. He said he had noticed a ‘gloriously obvious stupid mistake’ and said that if the producer Andi Peters called in and asked him not to say what it was then he wouldn’t. Chris asked if George or Micky from newsbeat knew which mistake he was on about. Neither said they did and Micky’s voice was unintentionally funny which made Dave laugh. Peters didn’t ring up. Chris said that when they asked what Robbie Williams first solo UK number 1 single was, they didn’t include Millennium (which it was) as one of the options. The options were Freedom, Angels and Old Before I Die. When it came to ringing the winner back, Chris said they changed the question to his first UK single (Freedom) and not his first number one. As for the actual show, Chris said it was OK and he said that toothy luggy Pat Cash did a fairly decent job of hosting it. Chris said Tim Kash had huge ears and awfully white teeth. Chris said his teeth were not as white but still good enough for Peters to have given him the job. Dave said Chris had yellow teeth though. Georgina really enjoyed Blazin Squad’s performance on TOTP but Chris was less impressed. He said he’d like to put their hoodies over their heads, spin them round and push them down a....hill.

Jon Culshaw has made some cheesy local radio ads for 'The Chris Moyles giveaways' this week. Basically in a local DIY 'sale ends soon' style. Log on to Moylesbay on Radio 1 Online all week to get classic memorabilia from The Chris Moyles Show. The liner used was ‘Lots of tat to stick in your flat’. Todays lots were lager, the ‘Fire at Will’ helmet, the David Seaman wig and the yellow inflatable banana that separates Daves desk from Aled’s. Vernon Kay texted in. Mainly to gloat to Dave about Saturday’s Bolton-Everton result. Chris said Vernon was probably drinking cider in the park (he replied drinking to the dizzy heights of mid-table football). Vernon’s new show on Radio 1 starts the day before Chris’s on January 4th. Before the legendary Avid came in today Chris bet a fiver that he’d swear when he says he won’t and there was also a discussion between Chris and Dave about Avid’s funny voice.

Chris - Cos he’s from somewhere foreign, you know. He’s not from like a
normal place like you or me...Hang on, where are you from again?
Dave - Hong Kong
Chris - yeah OK, well you’re a bad example

Avid was back for his 3rd time on the show (4th including on the phone) and it was by far his best yet. After putting on his Craig Davids (headphones) he presented Chris with some gifts. They were the Bo Selecta Series 2 DVD, Bo Selecta Series 1+2 DVD collectors editions, the Bo Selecta Official 2004 Calendar, an (extra large) Chamone Mother-french connection t-shirt and a picture disc. Avid said he had a cold and was on tablets. By the sounds of today he’s been on strong ones. The guy who plays Avid is called Leigh Francis and he is from Morley near Leeds. Avid was keen to stress that he actually wasn’t as he has an Iraqnipussian accent. Avid said that when he was at a Leeds radio station recently, a woman DJ licked him in the face because she said it was a present from Kate Thornton. Avid returned the favour to Kate when he was on Pop Idol Extra. She said she was touched. Avid said
he replied with ‘you are’ and then took his hand off her breast.

Avid said he wouldn’t swear because he wanted the fiver that Chris had bet him. If he didn’t give it him Avid said he would call Chris a...(left pause so insert word here). Avid called Chris ‘Chries’ all the way through the show. Dave hardly talked and was just heard laughing off-mic all the way through the interview. He did intervene in a bit of a nasty situation to say Avid said ‘font’ as in at a christening and not a similar sounding word. Avid said he finds it hard to be passionate without using swear words. Avid said he was very happy with his Xmas single Proper Chrimbo and said that despite him doing his best to promote different charities, all proceeds from the single go to him. He advertised Davina McCall’s drug rehabilitation charity Focus, which he mispronounced as Focks. He said he asked Kate Thornton which she preferred - one fock or two. Dave and Chris hastily talked about foxes. Avid said Focus was a charity for ‘druggy crackhead losers’. Chris said he couldn’t say that. Avid responded with a brilliant scenario that involved groceries, mushrooms and bananas. It’s very hard to explain but it was genius. No doubt it’ll soon be in the Sound Vault.

Avid talked about Vernon Kay who’d texted in again. He said he was good looking for a man because he’s not fat like Chris. Avid said he had Vernon’s mobile number as he found it in a dustbin. Chris talked about Vernon’s wife Tess Daly. Avid said she looks like Cameron Diaz and he would love to have Cameron up the ass. Chris said Avid was french and meant upstairs in his house (pronounced ass for the purposes of this get-out). Chris played Rachel Stevens and that set Avid off again on his fantasies. Rachel will be a guest on the penultimate afternoon show this Thursday.

Avid recently went to Florida and he said that they ate so much at breakfast. He said that their pants went straight up their buttocks. Avid thanked America for Sex and the City and Friends. Avid bigged up the Baron, a porno film that he loved, which he also mentioned in the Bedtime with the Bear episode with Jonathon Ross. Avid mentioned that he has 2 fans who have got 300 names on a petition for him to present next years Brit Awards.

Avid said that the making of the video is on the 14th December where you can see Chris' bogey. Avid still had it. He said he would stick a pin on it and wear it as a broche. Chris was concerned he still has not received money. Chris asked if he had an album deal but BMG said that it is a one off but it would be great if there was a duets album. Avid said it would be in the style of a radio station called Chamone MF and it would feature Jessica from Liberty X with the big mouth that you can put a corn in the cob and some sprouts in at the same time.

Chris checked out the contenders to the Xmas number 1 with Avid. Avid said that Sir Bob Geldof had a great time with him. Chris played Fast Food Rockers, Bill Nighy, Cliff Richard and The Darkness. Avid talked about Jacko and he said his mugshot made him laugh because he is still smiling and he has put some lipstick on. Avid mistook Cliff lyrics as saying piss on the earth. He said that a lot of old ladies with the wrinkled up tats will buy it. Chris gave him 10 seconds to promote his record to the listener. Chris played the track.
