Gud mornin!
Monday Monday, yet again it’s another Monday… Chris hates Mondays!
Before today’s show properly kicked off, there were microphone issues to deal with. Both Dave and Chris’ microphones didn’t seem to be working properly and both felt their headsets were sounding dodgy…
Still, thank god it’s another great start to the show…
Today’s studio guest is John Culshaw. The impressionist and writer from BBC 2’s (and Radio 4’s) “Dead Ringers” programme.
This morning’s issues were mainly aimed at Chris and Dave’s taxi driver and how he takes the most bootleg routes to work in the morning despite pleas from the pair that he is going the wrong way. Aled also claims to have had him… a comment that could have easily been misunderstood. Luckily no-one really picked up on it…
Travis were of course in the studio on Friday. Chris took delight in making Fran Healy laugh again towards the end of the live version of ‘Walking in the Sun’. ‘Walking In the Sun’ is available on their forthcoming ‘Greatest Hits’ collection.
Chris commented how impressed he was with Dave’s drumming skills at the Maida Vale studios on Friday (although it wasn’t a patch on Chris’ into for Why Does It Always Rain on Me)
CHRIS AND DAVE’S OFFICIAL UK TOP 10 –WITH WES-
New entry’s this week included The Libertines’ “What Became of the Likely Lads” – Daniel Bedingfield’s “Nothing Hurts like Love” and Jay Sean’s “Stolen” .
No. 1?
Ja Rule feat. Ashanti and R.Kelly – Wonderful.
Yes, Eric Prydz and ‘Call on Me’ has been toppled off the top spot by JA Rule’s new single.
Confusion then ensued over the pronunciation of Eric Prydz’s name.
Is it pronounced (phonetically) Pridz or Pryz??
Rachel is mocked for bringing it up in the first place…
Today it was announced that Chris and the team are serving the good name of Christmas well by giving a listener a special ‘gift’ for Christmas…
If you know someone out there who has recently been ill, or their business has gone bankrupt, their wife/husband has left them, or if they have a heart-broken crush on one of the girls from the Eric Pryz video… (The last one disallowed by Rachel) then radio 1 could be making their Christmas a happy one. WELCOME JOHN CULSHAW TO THE STUDIO!!
John and Chris chatted about the forthcoming US Presidential elections and who would win. In perfect timing, John pulled out a number of ‘Bush-isms’ – Chris asked whether or not it would be harder to impersonate John Kerry is he was elected. John said both had the same style of American drawl to their speech and how it wouldn’t be that difficult.
