From The Sun:

BRITAIN’S two top radio DJ's are slugging it out.
It was seconds out on Thursday when new listener figures were revealed. They showed that Radio1’s Chris Moyles has 857,000 listeners in London compared with 852,000 for Capital FM’s Johnny Vaughan.
Moyles landed the first blow yesterday morning when he bragged about putting on more listeners, saying: “Johnny Vaughan, if you are listening, have a really pleasant weekend.” Sun columnist Johnny was furious.
He exploded into a four-letter rant about Moyles when he rang me yesterday to set the record straight. He raged: “I’ve got more listeners in London than Moyles — he’s a fat ****.”
--
Last night the Capital camp issued a statement claiming that Vaughan, whose show is on from 6am to 9am, beats Moyles during the hours when both DJs are on air. Moyles does the 7am to 10am stint.
Capital said: “Radio 1 said Chris Moyles trumps all the commercial DJs, with 857,000 listeners in London. “This is 7am to 10am. If you take our comparative audience at that time, we’re at 948,000 (which means Johnny trumps all the other DJs).
“It’s not right to compare the shows as they are on at different times.
“Two hours of JV and one hour of James Cannon (the show after breakfast which runs while Moyles in still on) trumps Moyles.
“If you compare 6am to 9am we have 852,000 listeners — Radio 1 has 768,000.”
Hmm, not quite sure about that line of argument. What do you think?
What is for certain is that this Moyles/Vaughan fight won’t go away. In fact, I predict it will get even nastier when the pair hit the airwaves again on Monday. I can reveal they have never met face-to-face. But if they did I reckon it would make for a brilliant bout of celebrity boxing.
Heavyweight Moyles would throw haymakers while wiry middleweight Johnny got in painful verbal jabs. Come on boys, get it on ...
