Taking a break from my busy daily schedule I watched the newish feature length cartoon,"Scooby Doo and the Alien Invaders" last Wednesday morning and the end credits brought an astonishing revelation. Tucked away in a minor role-voicing the part of 'Steve',an astronomical boffin-was Mark Hamill.
Now I know that we have the occasional thread on this board when eagle-eyed observers list those old light entertainment regulars who have fallen on hard times (some say QVC) but I contend that the fall of the Hamill deserves special recognition.
Maybe voicing Shaggy may have a certain retro chic credibility but 'Steve' had about six lines. From headlining in Star Wars-Hollywood's biggest ever franchise-to a bit part in a cartoon has got to be popular culture's most calamitous descent.
And yes-since you ask-Velma is still a bag,Daphne is still a fox and the 'aliens' turned out to be crooks wearing masks.
"Seems like the mysterious Mr Schnieder is not a MotherF**king ghost after all,it was just an elaborate cover up for the F**king mob.Good job we whacked the F**king Joik"
"Bah,we would have gotten away with it too if it hadn't been for you 'Pesci' kids!

Stop it and Tidyup was the best! Terry Wogan narrated it. There was The Big Bad "I Said No" and The Naughties, as well as such classic characters as Eat Your Greens and Calm Down.
My older sister (now 20) loved it so much she recently bought a video of it!!!
