Unfortunately when I was under 25 Radio 1 was frankly rubbish ! ( playing minority stuff during the middle of the day ), ok so it was 10 years ago, so Chris wasn't on the station, so there you go, I am 35, put an old man minds at ease here.
What are the demographics of the audience, and how have the changed over the last ten years, which shows have seen the demographic spread in the most facinating way, and how does the BBC envisage broadening or narrowing its appeal to ensure that target programming is possible ?

Every BBC radio station has a remit. We need that in order to justify our licence fee. Radio 1's remit is to target 15-30 year olds. That isn't to say that we ban you if you're older, we need to have a focus which is that but we're fully aware that younger people listen as to older people.
Demographics have changed. Radio 1 focused very heavily on the teen male at one point to ensure we hit the middle of our remit. We did it brilliantly and the percentage of our remit age-group that listened to us was amazingly high - but that was at the expense of the age groups younger and older that then resulted in the figures declining.
Since then we've warmed up our output moved presenters around and broadened our appeal hence our figures have gone back up.
