I'm getting so frustrated with my Wii, I don't really understand my router,my housemate deals with all that nonsence, but it is wireless, and it doesnt seem to work AT all online with the Wii. It does with my xbox fine, but it hates the Wii. Nothing I do works, it finds the router fine, but refuses to connect to it. So I went and bought a Nintendo Wifi Dongle for it, and it STILL doesnt work, £29.99 down the drain, so I'm just getting so frustrated with it.

Does your Wireless have any security on it? If so i'm not sure how the Wii bypasses that. Another thing maybe that your housemate has the Wireless restricted to certain MAC addresses and your Wii isn't on the Access list.

yeah we changed it to allow any MAC addresses, and checked security, but it just doesnt seem to work, I've gone through all the nintendo help websites and I've come to the conclusion that our router just doesnt want to work with my Wii.

Ah is the Wii wireless? This is good if it is because I'm buying one on friday and plan to put it in our front room but still connect it to my wireless router to update it. Great stuff.

My housemate has a wii too and we also have a Phillips router and we can't connect either (not sure if it's the exact same one though). I can't get my DS lite to connect through our router either, but the Xbox 360 seems to fine...

Maybe its a philips thing then, I'm so horribly dumb when it comes to routers. My DS doesnt connect either. I thought by buing the stupid WiFi Dongle thing it'd just magically sort itself out, obviously not.

They are both pretty much identical anyway. I have a question, will connecting my 360 to my laptop via etherne, and having my laptop connected to the internet wirelessly work alright? It saves me the 50 quid for the 360 wireless adapter, which should have been included with the console anyway.

You may need to set up some internet connection sharing stuff (Windows XP and onwards definately has it and 2K may have (I can't remember) and all *nix varients definitely do because I'm using my linux box to connect my 360 to my wireless network), but it should work fine, and save you a load of money.

To my shock my Dad turned around the other day and confessed to testing out Wii Sports last week a couple of nights whilst I was out, it's the first time in 22 years either of my parents have voluntarily played a console. The Wii has made a brekathrough.
