oh the Bristol store is amazing, beautiful building, or is that the Bath one, or both? You should come visit my store, it's small but perfectly formed, bit like me (except I'm fat!)

Skoda was an awful brand, now it's just a cheaper, re-badged VW. The downside is they're popular among cab drivers (around here anyway).

They're now really nice cars. Cheap to run too.

They're not brilliant, but it's fair to say that VW have successfully reinvented the brand without even having to rename it. Cheap and cheerful, as you say.

Cake car rocks. But surely its a bad advert - it doesn't make anyone want to buy a Skoda Fabia, it just makes you go "Oooooh cake car mmmmmmmmmm................". Or do you reckon there are people out there who would go and test drive a Skoda Fabia on the strength of the cake car advert?

Only in as much as a transforming robot ice skating Citreon would make we want to buy one of those

I would worry about buying a car hat has the potential to turn into a robot at will, don't think I'd feel safe

At least that said something about the car - ie that it was "alive with technology" - and it is pretty techno-heavy, I test drove one - on the strength of that advert! Actually it was the original dancing C4 rather than the skating one. The cake car doesn't tell you anything about the car, not a thing.

No but it's a cool advert.

oh and I was not referring to car hats in my previous post although the idea is now amusing me

I think more and more adverts don't say very much about the product, they just rely on the advert itself being humourous or at least memorable.

but I remember the adverts that are memorable without remembering what they were advertising, surely that's not their plan

No but then I'd imagine if they present a vivid image together with their logo, most people would remember what it advertises.

Same here, although they seem to be pretty reasonable machines.

The thing I don't understand is how when the Skoda Octavia is the same size and sold as a competitor to the VW Passat, it is apparently built on the VW Golf chassis. I don't understand cars particularly, but a Skoda dealer told me this, so I believe it! And a lot of cab firms around here are using them now too.

My mum's friend, who may possibly be the worst driver in the world, managed to burn out the clutch on her new Octavia within 1000 miles. Is this a record? She is incredulous that they are refusing to replace it under warranty......!

FYI Yudyud, the chassis can be relatively easily "stretched" by adding a couple of beams in the middle, so in essense you can call it the same chassis It saves millions of pounds and is very common place. All of the Land Rovers pretty much share a chassis, the X-Type is on a Mondeo chassis, which is why it's so pap and I know that there's some sharing between Nissan and Renault too. In about 20 years I reckon that most car companies will just be rolling out 1 chassis each, and sticking four or five different top hats on them.

Thats pretty much what I was gonna say Yuds.

There are loads of cars all driving about with different badges on the front. I think I am right in saying that there is a Golf, a BMW and an Audi (DIE AUDI DRIVERS) which are all pretty much the same car but with varying degrees of price just because of what it says on the boot.
