charlalottie wrote:My town is now getting a little flock of parakeets in the park. I'm happy about this because we had 2 called Max and Polly (who turned out to be a boy) and so I think we may have contributed to this when they escaped. We managed to teach Max to talk.

Parakeets are almost becoming naturalised in England, there are so many of them. Theoretically, this is a bad thing for native species and biodiversity - but I don't care, they're pretty and exotic and interesting and I like to see them.

Should have tied yellow ribbons on them while there was still a chance.

Speaking of exotic and interesting creatures, you can buy poison frogs as pets! Wow. I like frogs.

Thats the family pet i've been looking for. I'm sure it'll have fun in inner city Birmingham. I can use it to scare off irritating door-to door people.

They're not actually poisonous in captivity though, as it's their natural diet that produces the poison.

I never knew that.

I like snakes, I might get one one day. Friend of mine has a corn snake, he's really cute.

I think there is the odd one that produces it's own poison but not many.

Yeah i think footie's big bro thread could be included - it went from big bro to eurovision via the testcard in about 4 posts

tho missing girl to poison production of frogs is more random

Maybe the fact that we are now talking about poison frogs instead of Madeleine is the reason why we should be putting yellow ribbons on all the frogs and toads and tying them on rabbits ears?

Tie them on the old oak tree, it's been three long years to you still want me, If I don't see a ribbon on the old oak tree I'll get on the bus and forget about us and put the blame on me if I don't see a yellow ribbon on the old oak tree.

If its up for an award then I'll be pedantic and point out that I threw it off topic in the second line of the first post.

Back on topic - why are Madelines parents giving a photo of their girl to the Pope? Has he got her?

Is it a publicity stunt?

I may have sounded a bit harsher there than I meant.

Is them meeting the Pope to keep the whole thing in the papers? Or is it to help the parents?

If its to keep it in the papers, it seems to be working pretty well.

Both I think. I don't see it can do any harm.

It's getting way out of control, but if it works, it works. If ever little Elton or Lionel go missing I know what to do now...... go and see the pope.

I had a myspace message from the site of a local club last saturday afternoon, asking if I was out that evening and would I go down there as they were having a fundraiser for the appeal.

It was a club I would never go to anyway, but feeling the need to get my point across, I replied with a polite message stating what I said in my earlier posts in this thread: that I feel the parents and not random strangers should be financially responsible for the result of their actions.

I then went to a heavy metal lapdancing club instead.

lapdancers don't seem to be always skinny either. curved and toned rather than boney seems to be the order of the day.

Alas, toned is what I am not. Can't be arsed to do enough exercise. Most of the dancers at the club in question aren't nearly curvy enough for my liking - most of them are pretty skinny with small boobs, except for one girl who has fakes, topped off with bleach-blonde hair, frosted lipstick and luminous orange tan. I can't say I'm a fan of that look.
