Tell me, do any of the rest of you think the following is "nuts"?

Whilst visiting the R1 message boards (which can often be eccentric on the best of days!), I came across someone actually suggesting that the Moyles spoils his show by playing music! A few people appear to just want non-stop talking for the 3 hours of the brekkie show! :?

I enjoy all the chatter and carry-on, but personally there is NO WAY I want to be tuned in to an entire 3 hours of talking! I think this is one of the things that is "wrong" with R2, in the fact that their discussions can sometimes rattle on far too long! Don't know about others, but I definitely want to hear music, I want to know what's new, and I like to know who is the current No. 1.

What do you think? :-)

Meh. Sometimes I want music sometimes I don't I think he has the balance about right. Give the guy a chance to catch his breath.

I would be OK with non stop talking for 20 mins, a record, then talk till the news. Then the same repeated.

Hmmm... actually I'd find 20 too long. I start to get quite cross sometimes when they go beyond about 7 minutes.

I prefer salted to plain....

Oh! sorry viv! 'misunderstood' the title

I think that Chris has got it about right too, One of the problems I have is that we only have the radio in the workshops, so if I go in to grab some tools I miss the whole crux of the chat, thank god for listen again, and podcasts!

I tend to listen to talk radio these days but I would rather have songs and quality chat than have them pad out bits.

I think I'd be happy with it being mostly if not all talk. But as Gaspode points out they could well end up padding a fair bit and that wouldn't be good, so...meh.

I think the general balance is perfect on Chris' show, but it does spoil it rather when the songs he does play are completely crap. I mean, after 20 minutes of chat, when he finally does get around to playing a tune its a bit disappointing when its bloomin' Candi Statton AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!! You know what I mean, the more chat there is the more careful they need to be that the songs the DO play are excellent. I don't think Aled always gets that right.

From what Chris was saying yesterday morning, he has some input at least.

He goes to Playlist meetings last I heard, in the BBC that doesn't mean he has input though. He could be there as tea boy or something for all we know.

From what Moyles was saying, he himself has a bit of input as to what tracks off the playlist he actually wants to play.
