As a fan of World Wrestling Entertainment, I'm shocked to find out that one of their biggest stars Chris Benoit died yesterday having alleged to have killed himself after murdering his wife and son. So many wrestlers whether they had already retired or not have died young over the years such as his best friend Eddie Guerrero, Owen Hart, Ravishing Rock Rude, The British Bulldog and now Benoit who was just 40. What is happening to this business?

Why doesn't that surprise me?

Also, if this story is true then surely it's the mother and son who we should be feeling sorry for, not their murderer.

Mike Awesome and Bam Bam Bigelow also died young, and that's just this year.

A bit ironic that this happens weeks after they start a plotline with the 'assumed' death of Vince McMahon in a limo explosion (a rather well cut scene at the end of one episode of Raw).

Yes, I was about to ask why we should be mourning the passing of someone who could cold bloodedly kill his own son. And yes, I know I am assuming he did - I'll say sorry if I'm wrong.

Like I said, I'm making an assumption. It may be wrong. So sue me.

By the way, you won't be needing to apologise.

It's not you that has assumed this, it's the police on the case. I think it's well known that no-one, including the Police, can be right ALL the time. People who knew him called him a 'gentle giant' so it seems a bit outta character for him to have done something like this by all accounts of his friends, colleagues etc. I know that is assuming too, but I'm going on character references there.

If he did do it, I'm guessing there was something weird going on, you never really know with these things.

steroids were involved. gets freakier

his wife was murdered on friday. he lay a bible beside her
he suffocated his son later on friday. he died early on saturday. again, a bible was left beside him
in another room on late saturday, using a pulley cord from a weight machine, Benoit hung himself. He did not leave a suicide note. He sent a text message to a fellow worker but that message has not been told.
He had anabolic steroids at his house but these were prescribed legally by doctors.

his wife was tied up at the hands and feet and had blood on her face. he smothered his son probably while he was asleep and he was found in his bed.

every mention of Benoit has been deleted from Shopzone on wwe. When you do a search for Benoit on it, it comes up as "discontinued". Slightly apt.

Nah all reports say that is being done, as is ECW (i think they get taped at the same show?) All reports I've seen say Monday night's tribute show was all they plan to show for now.

The WWE running the McMahon 'death' work so soon after the real death of Sensation Sherri Martel is just typical of an organisation that still treats its employees like cattle.

As for the tragedy, it saddens me that someone whose technical prowess in the ring I've admired for years could turn into a cold blooded murderer, if indeed that's what happened. If he did take take the life of his wife and child, then his soul and reputation should rightly burn.

Vince McMahon wrote:"The following message from Vince McMahon aired at the beginning of Tuesday's ECW on Sci Fi:

Last night on Monday Night Raw, the WWE presented a special tribute show, recognizing the career of Chris Benoit. However, now some 26 hours later, the facts of this horrific tragedy are now apparent. Therefore, other than my comments, there will be no mention of Mr. Benoit tonight. On the contrary, tonight's show will be dedicated to everyone who has been affected by this terrible incident. This evening marks the first step of the healing process. Tonight, the WWE performers will do what they do better than anyone else in the world – entertain you.
