One thing I've always wondered, you know sometimes there are competitions to win an ipod thats pre-loaded with Albums, do they do something speial with the iPod? 'Cause surely as soon as you sync it with your computer it'll wipe whatever's on there?
Or am I being dumb?

I presume that they give you the CDs as well to import into your iTunes library? Not sure though, I don't have an iPod.

What is synchronizing with the computer exactly? Cos my little mp3 says whether I want to do that when I plug it in to put music on and I have my media player on.

Well in relation to iPods, you can get your item to synchronize with itunes, so what ever songs/playslists you have stored in your iTunes library will be exactly the same on your ipod, providing you update it everytime you make a change.
Does your media player also have a library where you can save your mp3's?

I have an MP3 player, Viv - just not an iPod.

Basically, if you allow it to sync like its asking, then if you add an album to your media player library or remove one, then the next time you plug your MP3 player in the computer will automatically update your player so that the songs you have on your MP3 player are exactly the same ones as the ones in your media library, no more, no less.

Correct. I think Zane Lowe or someone said this last time they did one of those competitions on Radio 1.

They'll probably just tell you not to sync it. Do many people actually do that, because I don't with my ipod and I don't know anyone who does, but maybe we are just in the minority

Mine seems to Sync automatically. Not sure if that's because theres a setting or because it's just a shuffle though.
