I don't think I've ever had flu. I get horrible sinusitis though.

She said she is dying a horrific death. As colds go, that's probably slightly over-exaggerated, therefore it's a version of man-flu.

Incidentally I never moan when I've got a cold because it's not that big a deal.

I've never had flu either, I have had sinusitis once though. The headache I got was pretty excruciating, the burns I got from the treatment they gave me were somewhat worse though...

The story goes: I was 15 or 16 in the Easter holidays and getting absolutely horrific headaches, like I've never known before or since (you have my extreme sympathies if this is something that happens to you on a regular basis). My normal doctor's surgery was closed, so mum took me to the Saxon clinic, which is by Milton Keynes Hospital. They gave me some crystals to inhale in hot water (you can see where I'm going with this?)

The next morning, I boiled the kettle, filled a bowl with the hot water and put these crystals in. Unfortunately (with hindsight, this was rather stupid) I then sat down and laid the bowl on my lap with a towel under my head. Now I am not the most deadly still people at the best of times (I can't carry more than two drinks at a time without spilling, personally I think my mum fed me mercury as a kid) and for some reason I flinched, thus I had boiling water with some weird crystals (James and the Giant Peach style) spilling all over my lap. This hurt. A lot. Luckily I had my mate from school over for the night and he made me go and get in the cold shower and rang my mum, who rushed home from work and took me to the hospital (hospital staff promptly told her off and said she should have called an ambulance, as it's cleaner). I did get to go in an ambulance though, they then took me to Stoke Mandeville Burns Unit, where I spent two nights. Skin grafts were narrowly avoided. I have a very slight scar on my inside leg and there is a patch that won't grow leg hair at all.

Can you two please enrol in some form of Joke School.... Lesson 1 : What is a Joke?

I think you would both benefit from discovering the answer to that.

You don't get a cold by being soaked, you simply get wet.

It sounds like some of you need to do the Ten Pound Note test to determine the severity of your illnesses.

The test goes thusly: get someone to throw a ten pound note into the middle of the floor. If you get up to get it, you just have a cold. If you cannot raise the energy to do so, it's flu. Simple!

Chris is right, too; getting wet doesn't cause colds. It's a virus, so it doesn't breed in water, you have to catch it from someone.

Oh and on a similar note* Kendra left an old tenner at my house that they wouldn't accept in shops any more and I left it in the same place for about 6 months only for my sister to take it to the bank and come back with a shiny new note the other day.

*see what I did there?

and after this do you get to keep the tenner if you get up for it?
