Ok so following on from a conversation in the chatroom what are the advantages and disadvantages of being female or male. I think it's easier being a guy but better to be a girl in my usual peverse manner.

Here are some of my thoughts to get you started

Boys - don't have the agony of periods every month or childbirth

Girls - are masters of manipulation and have the thing (most - just for Footy) boys want - er dangerous ground for spelling it out but you know what I mean!

Boys - live in terror of things assaulting their balls

Girls - know where to kick a guy to hurt them

Let the war commence!

Reasons boys are better than girls, or rather the disadvantages of being a girl:
1. pregnancy and the pain it brings
2. ladies time of the month
3. all things associated with ladies time of month - e.g. the need to purchase those which boys do not
4. mood swings
5. having to buy bra's
5.a. Itchy nipples and trying to scratch them without alerting anyone
6. Being stereotyped as being the weaker sex
7. Having builders shouting at you
8. Having *some* men stare at parts of your body that you may not want them to
9. Worries about weight
10. Feeling the need to have too many shoes, handbags, purses and outfits
11. Being part of a rather technophobic gender (for the majority imo)
12. Often having to put hair into a 'style' or special 'hair do'
13. Having to purchase hair accessories and bobbles and things
14. Longer hair drying times (not taking hair dryers into account)
15. Make up
15.a. Mascara and the dangers that it brings to eyes!
15.b. Make up kits in handbags
16. High heels (nuff said)
17. Often carrying round huge handbags full of junk
17.a. loosing stuff in handbag and having to chuck all the stuff out on a table to find something
17.b. Dropping stuff out of handbag in the street (more specifically embarrassing stuff)
18. Often being those lumbered with house chores - cooking cleaning etc
18.a. often being the one who has to look after the kids and keep the house in ship shape
19. Going to the toilet with a group of others (what the hell is that all about anyway?)
20. Often being the ones whose family pays for the most of a wedding (or rather that whole tradition thing of the brides family paying - probably not around anymore but hey ho)

*disclaimer - Please note that I UNDERSTAND that many of these points do not apply to all women or indeed many women and that some things apply to men too, This is a general overview :)*

I don't think that's true, at least not anymore. There may not be as many females in the IT business as there are males, but females (in general) are far from technophobic. Infact, of all the people I know that I would call technophobic, not one of them is female.

Fair enough console, In which case I will say in my defence that I am basing it on my experience :)

1. But we do have fun trying to get pregnant
2. Periods give us the opportunity not to have sex and to gross men out
3. Buying Tampons/sanitary towels helps us embarrass men who work on supermarket checkouts and in chemists
4. Mood swings give us the opportunity to yell at men and vent our feelings with the perfect excuse
5. Bra's and lingerie in general is a great thing to buy! It makes us feel feminine and special.
5a. Itchy nipples can be scratched much more surrepticiously than men's balls and when we scratch them men are jealous cos they'd like to do that for us!
6. We can use our misconceived weakness to our advantage when we don;t want to carry stuff
7. Builders can raise our self esteem when we're feeling bad about ourselves
8. I have no objection to men staring at my body whether in horror or pleasure.
9. Worrying about our weight gives us something to complain about over which men have no control
10. You can NEVER have too many shoes, handbags, purses or outfits
11. We're not really technophobes we're just not interested!
12. We like doing our hair, it makes us feel good.
13. Oooh Claire's accessories - More shopping!! Got to be good!
14. Drying our hair gives an excuse not to go out with that persistent annoying bloke!
15(a,b,c) MAKE UP!!!! Yay!
16. High heels are a wonderful invention that make our legs looklonger and thinner and make shorties like me taller - also shoe shopping Yay!
17.(a,b,c) Hangbags = shopping and also means your never short of anything essential.
18. Think you're behind the times hun - girls go to work too!
19. Nattering in the loos with your mates! The best gossip is had in the loos.
20. that's my family not me and it's the father ofthe bride which means it's a downer for the guys not the girls!

I rest my case!

1. Accepted but so do males
2. Accepted but surely that can be a bugger when you actually want to?
3. Surely the men on check outs get used to it dont they?
4. Same as football for men then right? (I know women watch football too!)
5. I'm sure theres many things that can make men feel masculine and special
5a. Accepted and I have no reply :(
6. Which in my opinion could also make you appear lazy?
7. Cant builders get a bit too much if they start asking you to strip and stuff though? oh and creep you out a little bit?
8. No comment
9. No control?, couldnt they stop women eating or something or place some odd drug in your drinks? (Yes rather mean and immoral)
10. Shoes handbags etc can make you feel like you need to spend more money - which can lead to you getting in trouble
11. Accepted
12. Whatever floats your boat
13. Oooh Claire's accessories - More shopping!! Got to be good! - except for the spending money part and possibly getting into debt
14. persistent annoying bloke! - Should you really think of him like that?
15(a,b,c) MAKE UP!!!! Yay! - oh dear
16. High heels can also give you back ache right?
17.What if you forget to put an essential in the bag?
18. Accepted
19. Again, whatever floats your boat
20. So you'd like your family to possibly face debt etc?

I think I shall stop posting now ;)

To paraphrase a great show: -

Male : There is more to winning than beating your opponent. You lack the will of the warrior.
Female: What do you mean?
Male : No girl has the will of a warrior. You have the will of a housewife or, at best, the schoolmarm.
Female: That's it. I'll take you on right now.
Male : Very well. But, you see, I have the will of the warrior. Therefore, the battle is already over. The winner? Me! Rematch? You lose again! Had enough? I thought so!

Good guess.

S4B wrote:that's just rubbish and not even an arguement!

It's neither rubbish nor an argument, I just happened to be watching that episode.

If I'm honest, I really don't understand the whole male/female rivalry thing. Both genders are (currently) needed for the continuation of our species; the 'boys' need the 'girls' as much as the 'girls' need the 'boys'. Which side is better to be? I don't know, I've (obviously) never been a girl, so I can't really argue from experience, but I can't really see an overall advantage to being either one, especially in the time that we live in now.
