Well hence my point (and before that foot-loose's point) that women can be just as nasty, if not even nastier, about each other than blokes can be about them.

My point was she was worried about nasty comments in a room that only women would be going into, therefore she must have been worried about comments from women.

well, lucky she ran into me, who was about to be nice, having done a similar thing myself on numerous occasions!! Actually, even with the mascara everywhere, she was still lovely funnily enough.

Since I got promoted there is only one member of staff out of all those who are now reporting to me that I have any trouble with, in that they resent me "having authority" over them, and thats a bloke. But I think thats less because he is a bloke and doesn't like being answerable to a woman than that he is useless and doesn't like how people keep getting promoted over his head.

blokes are sometimes nastier... look @ console for example, for random unnecessary comments booted in!!

Ahem

I did say at the beginning that it's easier to be a man than a woman but it's better to be a woman! I honestly think this has been proved now.

I also agree that women are nastier to other women than men usually are to women. The biatch factor is another thing that makes it easier to be a man!

Yeah, to be fair there can be a number of reasons involved in that; I've known people (not friends of mine) turn down jobs because they didn't feel they could work under someone younger than them.

I couldn't agree more, sometimes they are, but sometimes women are as well.

What makes you think it's been proved? My take is that the matter is subjective and as such will never be proved either way. My personal opinion, however, is that the only reason I would want to be a woman is because of the two extras on your chest that you can play with whenever you want (and also I imagine it's much more fun to wank as a woman), however, were I a woman, unless I were a lesbian, I wouldn't still have that point of view.

Thus proving that I wouldn't hold that point of view if I were a straight woman.

what in the Hell is that supposed to mean?

I was, once again, paraphrasing Prof. Farnsworth from Futurama; you, and indeed everyone, should watch that show.

Good news everyone...

Wow, this has been a thread and a half, some really good points made by both males and females.

I haven't voted in the poll cos I'm actually not sure what I think. I think there should be a third option for 'about the same' (or somesuch). Women still have a lot of disadvantages in society. Unequal pay is a factor, tho admittedly a much smaller one than in the past. The working/nonworking mother dilemma - whilst it's possible for men to have this same decision to make, women, as the ones who give birth and traditionally the primary caregivers, come under much more fire for their choices (whatever they happen to be). The 'gaze' is a perennial issue - whilst some of the things people have said about women being bitchy towards each other are true, it remains that women are the ones who are primarily used and viewed solely in terms of their sexual attraction. The building site comments are a perfect example - that's something men are unlikely ever to experience. And altho the pain of pregnancy has been mentioned, the concept of being viewed simply as a vessel for childbirth, and being treated as nothing more than a potential breeder, is something many women experience and few men do.

In a lot of cases I think women can help themselves and use situations to improve things or make changes - but in others it's still men who have the distinct advantage and that doesn't seem likely to change anytime soon.

However, I'm a girly girl and I like being one most of the time. I like being the one who can traditionally wear long hair, makeup and dresses. I like my curves. I like the fact that as a bisexual woman, my role is often much less defined and more malleable than that of a bisexual man. Generally speaking, I find women much more aesthetically attractive, even tho I love having sex with men too.

So the jury's out!

You know in sweets shops when they have the sweets in big jars? Does anyone ever order anything other than a quarter?

Would the next be a half?

Ok, the obvious answer to that would be that I don't know about yorkypud, but personally, I'm still looking for one of those - but it wouldn't be true. Or funny. So I won't. But realistically, even the smartest of men can be prone to being penis-led in certain circumstances. Surely its inevitable that occasionally the biological will override the intellectual.

On the whole I think it must be pretty tough to be a man these days.
