nerd [nurd] Pronunciation Key - Show IPA Pronunciation
–noun Slang.
an intelligent but single-minded person obsessed with a nonsocial hobby or pursuit eg: a computer nerd.

I collect comic books (The big three), but I'd say my major nerdy passions are Guitars and Guitar based music, as in If I see a band perform or a picture of a band performing, I always try to work out the make and model of the guitar and amps.

What would you say is your Geekdom? what are your nerdy passions? Geeks and Nerds, stand out and be counted!

why didn't you post the definition of geek? it's not the same as nerd.

dictionary.com wrote:geek (gēk) Pronunciation Key
n.

1.
1. A person regarded as foolish, inept, or clumsy.
2. A person who is single-minded or accomplished in scientific or technical pursuits but is felt to be socially inept.
2. A carnival performer whose show consists of bizarre acts, such as biting the head off a live chicken.

as opposed to...

dictionary.com wrote:nerd also nurd (nûrd) Pronunciation Key
n. Slang

1. A foolish, inept, or unattractive person.
2. A person who is single-minded or accomplished in scientific or technical pursuits but is felt to be socially inept.

nerds are smart, geeks don't have to be.

my geekish bevahiour? coming here, gordon brown, collecting bottle caps.
my nerdish behavior? language crap like the distinction between geek and nerd.

Yea well I checked them both and Geek seems to refer exclusively to Computers, however I've always used those two words to mean very similar things, thats why I didn't include the definition

I much prefer the term geek, it sound much more sophisticated than nerd (if thats possible)

My geekish behaviour is my time spent on computer, here, aled.info and all the junk that comes into my rss reader (which now has 1536 things to be read - I've let it mount up :()

Lost, and language. I can't think of anything else really. My flatmate is a classic computer geek and has a t shirt which reads 'There's hope for geeks'.

I think a former member of my table tennis team only has geek t-shirts... he constantly wears Monopoly ones with the word 'Monopoly' substituted for 'Microsoft', or others. He's even bought one with the Firefox logo (seriously, I'm a fan, but buying the t-shirt...?)

Oh no, he does have a 'Northern Monkey' t-shirt (he's from Hull.)

i have a whole load of collecters cards for the X Files. I used to be a right scary fan of that show, but got sick of it after the movie which answered none of the questions it promised.

My geek/nerd behavior - I also hang out at a Star Wars toy collectors site.....and I don't even collect the toys, just like the movies!

I also watch all the "extras" on DVD's and get really irritated if there are none!
