Oh mind you, I did leave after GCSEs, I think Sixth Formers had to pay for theirs.

You used to have to pay round here if you didnt go to your nearest college. which for me was Skem. So I was penalised for not wanting to go to a crap college.

I used to have a boss who lived in Gravesend. One of the best managers I ever had.

I did, and it made me think of a member on here.

It made me think of someone on here too but I can't for the life of me think who.

My friend John is trying to give up smoking at the moment. Thing is, its a really difficult thing to do, and I would think that unless you really really really want to give up, unless you are so fed up with smoking and everything about it that you are desperate to not have to do it any more, it must be almost impossible to stop. John is trying to stop because he thinks he ought to, and because the smoking ban is making his life a little less convenient than it was. Well, I suppose it could work, but realistically I don't think he'll succeed, because he doesn't actually want to stop - he likes smoking, he enjoys it, and he doesn't really want to give up.

When my Dad quit, he put all the money he would have spent on cigarettes into a bottle. At the end of a year, it paid for his holiday. He continued to put away the money (I think he even upped it when the taxes went up). He bought all his windsurfing gear, wet suits etc with the cash! So, if you want to keep watching all that money go up in smoke....your choice I guess! 8O

I can't understand how anyone can afford it. I didn't realise how expensive it was until the other day - I couldn't believe it.

Keep it up Cat, very hard what ever anyone says, and how do you afford it Yuds ? You cut down on things that are not so important, like Food, Holidays, Nice Cars, Donations to the Church, that sort of thing.

I reckon I spend more on Beer and Fags in a month, than we spend on shopping ! That is indeed a sad admission, especially when you consider the shopping is for 2 adults and 2 children ( £10 a day, is £300 a month, its a packet of fags and 2 pints, and the total shopping budget of the Boboff Household)

Cat, I have nothing but sympathy and admiration, well done. And boboff, I appreciate the sums - but the unpalatable fact (for me) remains, that I simply don't have that kind of money to spend on anything, let alone smoking!
